Policemen from Anti Cultism unit. A team of policemen from the Rapid Response Squads and Metro patrol were promptly drafted to the scene. The account of eye witnesses helped in identifying the team which fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Members of the team suspected to be involved in the shooting have since been arrested and are currently in Police custody undergoing interrogation.

They will be subjected to internal disciplinary procedures, and may be prosecuted in conventional Court if implicated by ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu mni calls for calm, assuring that justice will prevail in this case.

This doesn't change the fact that hundred of thousands of police still roam our streets with a war grade assualt rifle. Civil law enforcement agency don't go around town with military grade weapons with 30. Live rounds .

You don't give an underfunded half baked police without constant shooting range training, or alcohol and psychological evaluation such assault weapons and not expect a missfire or "straybullet"

You are absolutely right on this no this,law enforcement officers should not be given AK47 as standard issue(except tactical and special teams),pistols are better for mobility besides AK47,s are not perfect for close quarter battles,pistols would rather be much more effective,using AK47 is nothing but a show off that has totally outlived its usefullness,the NPF needs to invest more in purchase of pistols and more CQB compatible guns like MP5,s ( if they are adamant to show off)at least in 21st century law enforcement.
