Easier said than done.

I'm patiently waiting till the refinery start working and we Nigerians are benefiting from it.

Till then, fingers crossed.

Good one. Another great development in the southwest. We don't develop by noise, we do by actions

Typical Yoruba noise maker , a northerner owns it, and built it so shut the hell up.

Imagine me making noise about all the depots built in Edo state? How stupid are you ?

He has competition.

Read the news and stop assuming.

There's a petrolex being built by Segun Adebutu at Ibefun in Ogun state.

Won't be surprised if there are others.

If Oil is becoming useless, why leave a large chuck of that useless oil to future generations?

Makes sense to harness that wealth and build a robust econony as well as provide critical resources..

Very good point. Exactly what the Arabs are doing.

The moment the refinery kicks off, subsidy should be removed, although a more transparent subsidy system would be in place if still carried on. Dangote would sure race a lot of oil and gas companies out of business.

Good one Dangote, but if oil and gas coys are seeing the future and the steps dangote is taking, why are they not trying to give him competition on a refinery level?
The sole reason for this, is that the world is moving away from fossil fuels to cleaner energies due to climate change.

People are going solar and clean energy, but Dangote knew Nigeria is usually 56 years behind. Nice thinking from him

I am sure Dangote will simply export all the refined product from that refinery. For as long as there is subsidy he will not he able to sell for the maximum price in Nigeria so he will simply export the product and maximize returns.

You need to first understand how subsidies work. If Dangote is not going to sell his products locally because of subsidies..... tell me why do foreign companies sell us the same products? ...how is it profitable for them who have to pay a whole lot to ship the product to Nigeria...pay tariffs etc......but not for Dangote who is based locally?
@ topic.... I fear sabotage. Refining oil is the money maker.... Dangote will now take away African market from Big Oil.... and cutting into their profit is war.

They have no need to sell him oil other than for the price for which it is sold internationally.

He on the other hand, sells to Nigeria at standard international price . The difference is that it doesn't need freight charges, landing cost and sundry top up charges.

angry angry angry
Dangote is only doing this for himself
to get richer, not to make life easier for
anybody.

When Cement got to N1000/bag, we were
all crying. Obasanjo told us not to worry, saying
that by the time Dangote's Obajana cement
factory starts producing prices will come down.

By the time the factory started , prices now
went to 1500 and now 2500 to make him the
richest black man on earth, by exploiting the
biggest black nation on earth.

They told us Nigeria will become self sufficient
in rice by building rice processing plants. Now
we can no longer afford our own local rice from
our own factories.

Don't be fooled, when his refineries start, he will
go and confuse Aso Rock, make financial contribution to Oshiomole /APC & bribe NNPC that it is not feasible to sell below 220/litre, and the "lifeless " one
will overnight, jerk up pump prices.

Under this govt, nobody fights or gives a damn
about the common man. That is why the
common man is being killed like common
houserat all over the north & sai Baba is there
travelling upandan.

Dangote will squeeze Nigeria hard with his fanatical refinery, the way is doing with his CEMENT and other products! I'm not surprised and don't expect his refinery would make us better either. Nigeria is the only country Dangote cement is damn expensive compare to huge resources available to him compare to other country, where he got fewer resources and still sell cheap. Dangote is a sucker.

Are you aware the earth was hit by an asteroid millions of years ago, leading to death of dinosaurs, spread of rare metals such as gold, platinum etc?

Burning fossil fuels definitely affects the ozone layer which in turn spawns climate change.

The way I understood it is that if Petrol costs 200/l to import, FG pays 50 out of it and then the sellers sell for 150.
However, if the price goes up to 250/l to import FG might drag their feet over paying 100/l subsidy leading to fuel scarcity. If FG does not pay immediately, and keeps paying that 50/l, then the supply available at official price goes down leading to shortages.

The foreign companies sell to us at market rate but the FG defrays part of the costs to reduce prices to the end consumer.

Or is my understanding wrong?
