General Requirements
(a) National Diploma Programmes

SSCE or WASCE or GCE '0' Level or NECO or NABTEB with at least 5 Credits obtained at not more than 2 sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects related to the programme of study.


(b) Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes

1. Candidates are required to satisfy SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB entry requirements for the corresponding National Diploma programme.
2. Candidates are required to have completed a relevant National Diploma Programme.
3. Candidates are required to have at least one year post- ND industrial work experience.
4. All candidates are expected to consult the Institution's prospectus on the portal or in hard copy to ascertain their qualification for courses for which they are applying.


(c). Mature Candidates:

Candidates with lower qualifications than the above requirements but with at least three (3) relevant Credits and two (2) Passes could be considered for admission into the National Diploma Programme only, provided such candidates are not below the age of 40 years and have a minimum of 15 years work experience at SUPERVISORY LEVEL.

NECO Seeks Resumption of Final Year Students In Secondary Schools

The National Examination Council (NECO) has called on its state officers to commence talks with the state commissioners of education and other relevant stakeholders to allow final year students to re-open so as to enable them to take the Senior School School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
This was contained in a circular the Director of Examination Administration dated May 12th, 2020.

The circular reads; “Management is of the view that if the two (02) examinations stated above will be conducted and in good time this year, the Council needs to take more proactive measures.

“One of these is to convince relevant Stakeholders of the need for resumption of final year students writing public/ external examinations as soon as possible.

“With only them in school joined by only the teachers directly involved in the conduct of the examinations, the recommended social distancing, with other safety measures can be observed.

“In the absence of students in other classes, all available halls, classrooms, laboratories and even offices can be utilized to achieve the desired spread of the candidates especially on the days major/general papers will be written.

“This suggestion is in view of the realization that based on the daily report of the spread of COVID 19, and Introduction of virtual learning by Governments, schools, and institutions, full resumption of school may not be possible even in the near future

“You are directed to immediately commence talks with the Commissioner for Education and other concerned MOE officials in your state to convince them of the need to recall ONLY the students writing public External examinations. A specific period will be allowed for revision and the examination will commence.

“As soon as you secure the approval of the Commissioners and you inform Management accordingly through your Zonal Coordinators, official letters will be sent to them through you and further necessary steps will be taken to commence the examinations in earnest. This, without doubt, is in the interest of all stakeholders in the education industry.

“Please treat with utmost importance and urgency“

BREAKING: VCs, JAMB adopt 160 as cut-off mark for 2020 admissions

Heads of tertiary institutions have agreed on a minimum score of 160 for 2020/2021 admissions.

They also adopted 120 for polytechnics and 100 for colleges.

Speaking during the 2020 policy meeting on admissions, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, said no institution is allowed to go below the minimum score pegged for admission.
Based on the guidelines released by JAMB during the meeting, 2020 admissions for first choice is expected to commence in August.

He said: “One of the decisions taken was that universities will have minimum score point of UTME as decided by each of the universities.

”For the polytechnics and colleges of education, it is also as decided by each of the institutions except that no institution would be allowed to admit a candidate for universities if you have scored less than 160 in UTME but that is not the only thing that will be taken for admission.

“Some of theme will do Post- UTME and some of them will do physical assessment and that will be added to it (UTME score) to determine the cut-off or what we call the minimum score.

“The minimum score as decided at the meeting for universities will be 160, for polytechnics will be 120 and for colleges of education will be 100. That does not mean that it is to be accepted and we have seen what each institution has decided.

Nobody can admit a candidate with a score less than what the institution prescribed, that’s, the who set 210 can be 210 not 209. Those who set 200 is 200 but nobody is allowed to go below 160 for universities.”

During the programme, candidates will have the opportunity to write the University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and MAY seek admission into the following Schools in the University:

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should possess five credit passes in WASC, NECO, GCE or equivalent at not more than two sittings in relevant subjects from:

• ENGLISH LANGUAGE • BIOLOGY/AGRIC. SCIENCE
• MATHEMATICS • ECONOMICS
• PHYSICS • TECHNICAL DRAWING
• CHEMISTRY • GEOGRAPHY

***ACCOMMODATION WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR INTERESTED CANDIDATE ON FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.

METHOD OF APPLICATION:

1. Candidates are to visit www.futa.edu.ng. Click on CCE portal and PDS application to create an account.
2. Login into your account with your username and password, and click on payment to generate an invoice for the application form.
3. Candidates are to pay an application fee of Fifteen thousand naira (N15,000.00) only excluding bank charges on Remita platform ONLY in any bank.
4. Candidates are to complete and print the PDS Application form online by logging on to www.futa.edu.ng and click on the online PDS application form
5. Submit the online application form and print out a copy of the Screening schedule slip.
6. The application opens on Monday, 15th June, 2020 and closes on Friday 2nd October, 2020.All awaiting results candidates must upload their results on www.futa.edu.ng on or before the closing date.
7. Screening will hold between Monday 5th and Friday, 9th October, 2020.

UNICAL Post-UTME/DE 2020: Cut-off Mark, Eligibility and Registration Details

UNICAL Post-UTME/DE Form, cut-off mark, screening date and eligibility for the 2020/2021 academic session has been announced. UNICAL cut-off mark is 160. Registration begins June 29th, 2020. Deadline is July 29th, 2020. Application cost is N2000. See the full details below;

We make this announcement for the benefit of all Direct Entry and UME candidates who scored 160 and above in the Joint Admissions & Matriculation Examination and who have chosen the University of Calabar as their First Choice in their application for admission into the University for the 2020/2021 academic session.

OPENING OF PORTAL/REGISTRATION

Registration will start from Monday, 29 June, 2020 when the portal will open for that purpose. Please note that the portal will however be shut down at 12.00 mid night on Wednesday, 29 July, 2020.

PAYMENT AND REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

The following options are available:

E-transact option:
This option is available in all commercial banks nationwide. At the bank your are required to pay and obtain an E-transact PIN. With the PIN log into the portal https://www.myunical.edu.ng and click on the UTME Admission Screening link then follow the instructions on the portal after login.

Buy Post-UTME Pin Online option:
This option gives access to purchase Post-UTME pin from the portal. Click Buy Post-UTME Pin Online to purchase the Post-UTME pin online. Login with the TRANSACTION ID as the PIN into the portal.

Scratch Card Option:
This option is available in the following banks within Calabar Metropolis ONLY:
a. Unical Microfinance Bank
b. WEMA Bank
c. First city Monument Bank
d. Heritage Bank
On obtaining the scratch card proceed as follows:

LOG ON TO http://www.myunical.edu.ng and click on the UTME Admission Screening link
On the home page, enter your correct JAMB Registration Number in the box provided
Enter the scratch card pin in the box provided
Click on login and follow the online instructions.
Confirm your entries and CLICK ON SUBMIT
Print out the completed form.

THE FOLLOWING CHARGES SHALL APPLY:

Aptitude Test = ₦2,000.

NOTE:

The date for the Aptitude Test will be communicated to all candidates at the close of registration.
Candidates are therefore advised to check the portal after the close of registration for their venue and time of the CBT. Candidates are also advised to get the UNICAL Post-UTME Past Questions and Answers. This will enable them to prepare adequately for the screening exercise.
Candidates are also advised to ensure their correct phone numbers are provided while filling the form online as the University will communicate with them directly.
The Post UTME exercise is Computer Based Test (CBT)
Special candidate with any form of disability should please indicate during registration.
Foreign candidates are as well advised to indicate their country of residence

IT MUST BE FURTHER NOTED THAT:

Impersonation is a serious offence and anyone caught will be handed over to the Law Enforcement Agents and may be liable to up to 5 years imprisonment
Any candidate who fails to take part in the screening exercise automatically loses his or her chance of being considered for admission.
Early commencement of registration is advised to avoid congestion in the dying hours.
