A 30-year-old man has been apprehended for allegedly "taking hostage" of a 12-year-old girl and defiling her in the process in Abia state.

It was gathered that the little girl who hails from Apugo in Enugu State, has been living with her aunt who allegedly maltreats her constantly and flogs her with cutlass.

According to reports, the little girl who sells sachet water for her aunt - was chased away from home by the same woman on Wednesday, 10/04/2019 and the suspect took advantage of the poor orphan in pretense of accommodating her, to sexually abuse and defile the minor.

The community policing vigilante of Umuogele village in Abia - caught them and handed them over to the Ndiegoro Police Division.

Efforts are being made to get an NGO to take up the girl's case.

Half justice is no justice, the biggest culprit is the useless aunty and the useless girls parent, why give birth to kid you won't take care of ? Who flogs a 12 old with cutlass? Who sends a pre-teen out to the street rather than send her to her useless parent? What if the girl get kidnap by ritualist? Or get knocked down by hit and run? What's the girl suppose to eat and where is she suppose to sleep after sending her out? What if her rapist never get caught? Even if caught, so? Send her out to where exactly?
