93 YEARS OLD SAGE CHIEF AKAEZE UKPONU LAID TO REST IN OBIOR DELTA STATE AMIDST LOUD JUBILATION.

By Nwachukwu G.I

The body of Late Chief Akaeze Ukponu has been laid to rest in Obior, Aniocha south Local govt. Area, where the Delta state Sage hails from. The iconic Grandfather, Father, Brother, Friend and Adviser who meant alot in different ways to different people, died on the 29th day of September, 2018.

Chief Akaeze Ukponu, the "Onishe and Ozoma" of Diokpa community was 93years old when he took a glorious exit to join his forefathers. He was a well recognised chief in his community and other close-by communities in Delta State. His distinguished wisdom and honesty made him so relevant, especially in areas of counselling, critical decision making and honesty with people, clans and royalties.

The burial ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent public figures, Diasporas, traditional rulers, politicians and many others, including friends and family members from across the world. He is survived by great-grandchildren, grand children, and children.

According to Chief Emmanuel Elue, former Deputy Governor of Delta state and head of the organizing team of the glamorous burial ceremony, he told our reporters that the late chieftain was a man whom he had great respect for. He noted that Chief Akaeze Ukponu lived an admirable live, especially with his infallible solutions to key problems of humanity and morality.

The ceremony was indeed filled with celebration, and we noticed an ambience of unity, joy, surprises and merriments. In a reaction from Mr. Kingsley, one of the grandsons, he says "Baba would remain in our minds and we still hear his words everyday, we would miss grandpa, but we gladly appreciate the times you spent with us, talking to us and encouraging us on the best aproach through the ladder of living a good and disciplined life", he concluded.

This is what is called celebration of life. Only an ingrate would mourn his death for he's lived to see his children's children.

Op should correct the first paragraph. Obior is in Aniocha North and not Aniocha South as captured there!
