I have been in dilemma since finishing NYSC last year.

I feel impelled to further education and can raise circa 3m naira.

I don't know if one can conclude an LLM (ie Masters in Law) in any Nigerian University under 18 months.

I feel like starting from there since I have been indecisive about Canadian Emigration.

Thank you!

You can try Igbinedion University Okada. They are very fast and before you know, you are done and dusted.

If you really want to continue education, you should not be afraid of emigration, this is definitely not the worst thing that can happen. Feel free to submit documents where you want and do not be afraid of anything, everything will be in order.

Someone suggested University of Lagos and I agree with him because the report from there is good.

Your Law degree coupled with your Law School is an equivalent of a Masters degree for Canadian immigration purpose.

I think he is conscious of the cost; from his post, he seems to be more inclined towards public unis.

Buh most Nigerian unis run pure LLM and very little opportunity for specialisation... so the masters is more like a glorified LLB.

Best bet would be to really save up and emigrate - there is more room for specialisation (AI LLM, IP LLM, Corporate Law LLM, Law with Finance MSC, Maritime LLM, Space Law LLM, Oil and Gas LLM, etc.);

and, even if you do decide to come back to Nigeria, you would have a real prospect at top tier organisations/law firms.

Many factors will affect the timing of your programme: your own aptitude, the school's Academic calendar, the scope and nature of your research, the supervisor, other vicissitudes of life, et cetera.
In all, if time (duration of programme) is the pivotal consideration in your choice of school, PLEASE do not choose any university that will most certainly join any ASUU Strike. You can rest assured that with the current permutations in our University system in Nigeria, ASUU will most likely embark on at least one strike action every year. I speak from experience as both a former Professional University Administrator and graduate student. Best wishes.

Yes. In University of Ilorin, 18 months is the standard.

Real, practical standard, not theoretical - You'll be done with your work in a year and half, and you'll convoke at the end of the second year.

Are you saying this for law or all the departments?
