The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Tuesday slammed the Federal Government and Aisha Buhari, over the proposed plan to establish a private university to be named after President Muhammadu Buhari.ASUU who slammed Aisha Buhari, further described the proposed university by the wife of President Buhari as a disaster.

According to the union, the plan of the wife of the President to establish a new university confirmed why her Husband continued to reduce budgetary allocation to education since he assumed office in 2015.Chairman of the union, University of Ibadan chapter, Professor Deji Omole and a former National Treasurer of the Union, Professor Ademola Aremu who spoke in separate interviews with newsmen in Ibadan, all berated the First Lady over the proposed move. 

Omole said: “When I heard about the proposed private university to be named after Mr President, I just looked at it as a joke taken too far. If we have a president in a country that has simply refused to fund public education and all we get from the first family is to establish a private university in collaboration with some foreigners, it is a disaster for this country and for a sitting president.“The implication is that Nigerians should know that this leadership does not believe in public funded education”.

Pls, where is he getting the money to establish the school from, because as at 2015, he have to borrow or take loan to get his party nomination form or is he taking another loan to establish the university.

It is very wrong for a sitting government to own a Private University simultaneously, let's assumed they did that five years after there tenure,it's still cool.
Let's see it from this angle again.Do you think all the course's would not get full accreditation by NUC .You knew already NUC has government interference.All things as such makes the black nations backwards.
Most African leaders are selfish and greedy,just mere acquisition mindset.What if the said cash to be used was injected to all the already available F.G university,it would boost the educational standards.
Remember that former president Olusegun Obasanjo also built a presidential library close to the tune of #50 billion.I read that Bola Ahmed Tinubu donated #2billion and all other PDP governor's too.How many people uses the library for personal research work?

Buhari is a public office holder and his family are currently living off the sweat of tax payers. As a public office holder, you’re supposed to not leave the office with more assets than you came in with.

Whenever I meet people like you, I begin to understand why relevant public office holders have refused to invest in education, electricity and fast internet in Nigeria.

The dumber they are, the easier they are to manipulate.

Simple reason is that the president keeps reducing the budget to fund education and yet planning to build a private University. Looks like conflict of interest. If public education is properly funded as it should, ASUU wouldn't care about his private endeavours. Our major problem, I think, is not bad leadership or improper management. Its absolute docility of the populace. We take everything leaders do like mugus, thats y they wil continue doing as they wish
