Michael Owen’s Premier League Predictions For This Week by pappybarry(m): 1:08pm On May 04, 2019
Michael Owen gives his thoughts on games this weekend including Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.

The penultimate round of Premier League fixtures is here and there is still plenty to play for at both ends of the table. Liverpool could temporarily go back to top spot with a win at Newcastle United on Saturday evening, which puts pressure on Manchester City ahead of their clash at home to Leicester City on Monday night. In the race for a top-four spot, Tottenham could secure their place with a win over Bournemouth, while Chelsea could take a huge step forward with a win at home to Watford.

Manchester United need other results to go in their favour if they are to secure a place in next season’s Champions League as they travel to Huddersfield Town, while Arsenal are at home to Brighton. Meanwhile, Cardiff City host Crystal Palace and desperately need a win to keep their hopes of staying in the Premier League alive. Once again our Brand Ambassador Michael Owen shared his thoughts ahead of the action with BetVictor. EVERTON VS BURNLEY Gylfi Sigurdsson was excellent in Everton’s last home match against Man United. Everton will be confident of doing the double over Burnley having put five past the Clarets in the reverse fixture at Turf Moor on Boxing Day. The Blues have kept a clean sheet in seven of their last nine league games and they have beaten Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United at Goodison Park in that period.

The Clarets have only kept one clean sheet in their last 11 on the road and I expect to see opportunities at both ends on Friday with Everton winning their last home game of the season. Michael’s prediction: Everton 2-1 Burnley BOURNEMOUTH VS TOTTENHAM Heung-Min Son returns for Spurs after missing the Ajax defeat Bournemouth are without a win in their last five home league games although they have scored eight times in their last two matches on the road. Spurs are up against it in the Champions League semi-final 2nd leg with Ajax in Amsterdam midweek, but make no mistake they are not out of the tie by any means. Spurs need the points to cement a place in the top four and I feel they can grind out a result.

Spurs have not picked up a point on their travels since the end of January but did win 11 times on the road prior to that and they can maintain their good record against the Cherries having won six of the seven previous Premier League meetings between the clubs. Michael’s prediction: Bournemouth 1-2 Tottenham WEST HAM VS SOUTHAMPTON Mark Noble was instrumental in West Ham’s win over Spurs last Saturday. The Hammers bounced back to winning ways with a terrific win at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend and I expect them to follow up against a Saints side who confirmed their Premier League status next term courtesy of a point at home to Bournemouth last weekend. The Saints have scored in their last nine Premier League games and I feel there will be plenty of opportunities at both ends in an entertaining clash. Michael’s prediction: West Ham 2-1 Southampton

Michael Owen’s Premier League predictions including Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea Michael Owen returns with his latest Premier League picks. NEWCASTLE UNITED VS LIVERPOOL Will Mohamed Salah extend his lead in the Premier League Golden Boot race? Liverpool have it all to do as they try and overturn a three-goal deficit from the 1st leg of their Champions League semi-final with Barcelona midweek, but they cannot get ahead of themselves and must win at St James’ Park on Saturday as they try and keep the pressure on Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title. The Reds were, arguably, unlucky not to find the back of the Barca net on at least one occasion midweek but they can’t afford to feel sorry for themselves. I expect Jurgen Klopp to have them fired up for the trip to a Newcastle side who did, of course, beat City 2-1 at home earlier on the season. The Magpies have only lost one of their last six home league games against the Reds and won’t go down without a fight, but I feel it would be fitting this season if the title race went right down to the wire.
