I think you have misunderstood the OP. Yes fasting in the month of Ramadan is compulsory as it is the 4th pillar of Islam. But there are some categories of people that are exempted such as women during menstruation, pregnant and nursing mothers who fear that their babies will suffer, those who are sick and so on. And if I understand what is in the OP, they are arresting those Muslims who eat in public. Islam or Sharia law applies to Muslims alone.

The question is why arrest anybody whether Muslim or not because they eat wherever they like during fasting? Is their eating affecting you in any way? Do you know that there are individuals who fast at anytime of the year both Muslims and Christians and they are disciplined not to allow anything distract them?

Just sit down and think deeply about the crazy law. Arrest muslims eating in public during fasting as if it is by force to fast. Nigerians always focusing on crazy things and ignore the most important. Why are they not arresting boko haram, herdsmen, heir leaders for bad roads, hospitals, poor education, etc or they think Allah loves their corrupt leaders but hate people who refuse to fast?

That means you will kill Muslims who decide to convert to other religions. Yet you people claim Islam is a peaceful religion.

Nabahani Usman, the commander-general of the Sharia Police (Hisbah) in Kano, has stated that people eating in public during the Ramadan will be arrested.The Sharia Police boss who told BBC that people eating in public during the Ramadan will be arrested, added that those arrested will only be released when they can provide proof of illness via a medical report from a doctor that exempts such persons from fasting.

Usman who noted that Ramadan was a special month for Muslims and anybody that practised Islam must fast, further stated that even with the exemption letter, the person will be warned not to repeat such before being released.

He said: “We do this kind of operation yearly and we will continue it this year. The aim is to get every Muslim to respect the month of Ramadan. Even if a doctor says you should not fast, that does not mean you should eat in public while others are fasting. So any Muslim that we apprehend eating outside, our men will arrest and bring the person to our office unless he can show proof that a doctor asked him not to fast.”
