Report reaching CAMPUS GIST news desk says the main gates leading to the University of Ilorin, have been shut.

Our correspondent reports that the ‘Better by Far’ University as fondly called, was shut today by protesting members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the institution.

CAMPUS GIST gathered that the protesting union got to the gate as early as 7am on Monday, May 6 and locked up the gate to deny students and academic staff entry into the campus.

Some students who tried to force their way in were dealt with as their mobile gadgets were broken.

The workers showed unprecedented commitment towards the protest as they prevented people from coming in, including principal officers of the school.

Following several appeal, the union according to report later opened the gate as at 8:45 but vowed to make it a total blockade on Tuesday should the school authority refuse to grant their request.

Efforts to reach the NASU Spokesperson proved abortive, an official of the union, however, confirmed the report.

A sad development. Unilorin enjoys wide recognition for academic excellence. The authorities should as a matter of urgency rein in on this problem.

nigeria are getting worsening about protesting all the time, what take u leaders to satisfy your followers. same thing here in Lagos LAWMA are also protesting for disengaged up-to 107 LAWMA STAFFS. The promise land is still far for Nigeria with all this self centered behavior of our so call leaders

You really know how unilorin operates, university where both lecturers and students are treated like secondary school students. It also helps the school to achieve rapid academic speed, I was in 100level In one university when my younger brother got admission into polytechnic, he graduated from polytechnic, wrote jamb and got admitted to into unilorin, my brother and i graduated in the same year. This means he got 2 certificates b4 I could even finish one and unilorin speed made it possible.
