Who decides the general direction of the economic thrust of a Nation? The Presidency, the CBN governor or the Minister of Finance?

It is too easy the blame the CBN governor for the incompetence and lack of direction of the executive.

Correct but the CBN which is semi autonomous should not dance to the whims of the Presidency by asserting it's independence. Emefiele sadly takes a lot of blame.

Truth is that, he seemed more a banker than a sealous economist.

Expected. Though I am not happy with some of the policies of Emiefule. One of which is the reintroduction of ATM fees after Sanusi cancelled it.
Another Alhaji Abdulahi Musa Muhammadu Shinkafi about to be appointed.

He just coming from the banking sector probably realise sed that the zero charges were costing the banks lot.

Imagine a bank like Standard Chartered with few branches. If I was banking with GTB, I would prefer to use the largely vacant ATM machines to withdraw than stand on a long GTB queue. Standard Chartered ATM machines which are always stacked with money will start finishing much more faster than expected without adding a dime to their bottom line

You are correct BUT in Nigeria autonomous institutions only exist on paper. Our last CJN was shown that he who pays the bills dictate how the masquerade should dance

PDP supporters on NL will argue Emefiele is doing a good job but naira keeps going down. They also want Buhari to give him a second term n I asked them are they okay with naira continued downward trend ? Will they not wail if it persists ?!

If the answers is yes Buhari should give him automatic second tenure but if not make the man leave road for person wey sabi even if another Igbo, this one Na colossal failure that must not be repeated except God wan punish Buhari.

Hardship pervade the entirety of the land to the extent those who voted change started wailing all due to the pathetic dull in fact worse cbn governor witnessed in my lifetime.

Anyone is beta than the dullard heading CBN now that idiot no sabi anything about monetary policies.

When will you people start blaming the president? The CBN is under the Minister of Finance and Kemi Adeosun should be blamed along the president that appointed her. Please, note I am not a supporter of Emefiele either because he has a capitalist mentality and allowed banks make super normal profit even in recession.

If he had stood his ground, at least many would see a lot of Buhari's policies for what they were.

By refusing to challenge wrong policies, he gave them and the Presidency credibility. The bulk of the blame for the recession would have fallen on the Presidency if he had refused to play along.

He would have pointed out the damage a pegged exchange rate would create which would have been severe foreign exchange scarcity and the severe recession that it would cause.

A sack would have given him credibility and Buhari the opposite. Many who voted for him do not realise he is the primary cause of the recession

Everyone should be blamed from Emefiele Adeosun Buhari n Ebele that couldn’t not save for raining days. I just get sick of people who blame others for certain failures n refuse to blame their kinsmen for similar failures.

Even if we saved Bros we would have still been end up in recession. Increased capital flight, declining investors confidence, decrease in FDI, foolish fiscal and monetary policies that the idiot Emefiele introduced to please the president cabals led us to this point. If not for Emir Sanusi that cried out, it would have continued, to a point the presidents wife and in-law were accused of foreign exchange racket.

Kai, Buhari no try for us ooh...He destroyed this country to a point that we will need another 20 years of re-formation to get it right.

Unfortunately government doesn't work like that. A public servants duty is to obey his superior officer. If his immediate superior officer is out of line, he may file a complaint to the next higher officer. What happens if the next higher officer is the president and he is clueless or supports the offending officer?

Should Emefiele risk loosing his fat salary? And over what?

CBN has.a level of autonomy for the primary purpose to prevent political meddling.

When Theresa May was meddling British equivalent, the head told her to bugger off.

What useless salary? He will be hot demand once he steps down especially if he steps down for a principal reason or was sacked. A professional must honour his profession

Sanusi has been appointed as a director on the MTN board. Before that,he was made the Emir of Kano.

As a CBN governor he actually suffered a salary decrease from his Zenith bank post
