Evans Was Not Forced To Make Confessional Statements – Judge by chinambusay: 8:33pm On May 10, 2019
A Judge at the Ikeja Special Offences Court who ruled on the case of billionaire kidnapper, Evans, stated that he was not forced to make confessional statements. According to Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the billionaire kidnapper and his accomplice Victor Aduba, a dismissed soldier, never provided the court with any proof of coercion or torture during a trial-within-trial to determine the admissibility of their statements to the police.

“The video of the first defendant (Evans), giving his statement, was played in open court. The first defendant appeared relaxed and was smiling in the video. There was no visible threat of violence or coercion. The defendants’ counsel did not report to the authorities about the alleged torture before proceedings began. The first defendant’s stories appeared to be contrived for the purpose of this trial. I have carefully taken into consideration the arguments contained in the written addresses, and there is insufficient evidence of torture and coercion.

“I find that the defendants’ statements were made voluntarily. I accept the statements of the two defendants as exhibits and they are so marked Exhibits F and G', the judge said.

He could be forced. I don't trust Nigerian police. It doesn't mean if he was guilty that he should not be penalised. Jail him if he is guilty.

I still wonder what the functions of NBA are. An average Nigerian lawyer will do anything or raise very feeble excuses just to delay an obvious case. A lawyer like this deserves to be sanctioned.

Every sane person in nigeria knows nigeria police and torture are like 5 and 6,
Innocent people they arrest on the road are being tortured just to make them agree to crimes they didn't commit, talk more of someone who they perceived to be a kidnapper.

Just because he is igbo, his case will be different.
How many boko haram members has gone to court, instead they becomes repented boko haram. members,
where is one of the boko haram leader kabiri that was arrested during Goodluck reign.

Herdmen and bandits are called to aso rock for settlements,(in millions of dollars)

before you call me tribalist(because most of you nigeria are hypocrites) imagine if these people are Igbos.what would have been their cases.

Trust federal Government on this,he's already a condemned criminal but they want him to waste all he has acquired thru d evil work, before they condemned him,he is d 1 that need to think twice before taking lawyers upon lawyers for his case.

What are we still doing on this man's case, he ought to have been placed where he belongs. This man should better stop wasting his money over lawyers, I doubt if he can escape it, but sometimes, we don't just trust this our judges oo, anything can happen or he gets a soft sentence, but he should ñot finish the money cos he won't be able to come out and spend it again....

Evan can't be granted bail and no way he will win this case, the case is not just about him and apc lead government but the nigerians and international are monitoring too. The earlier he accept is guilty. The better he know is length or death sentence because he is already a condemn criminal which the goverment are using to play ludo due to his high profile crime

You are absolutely right, the lawyers defending this criminal and telling him what lies to tell in the court should be sanctioned

I am an Igbo man but I don't support any form of criminality. You are trying to play a tribe or ethic card in this case it will not work, stop this sentiment this is clear case of crimes committed against humanity by Evans Sadly his victims are Igbo men like us why bringing tribe into this case. Justice must be served I wish he will be sentenced to death for his numerous crimes against humanity
