irepnaija4eva:they are talking about internally generated revenue. Bayelsa is a small state that is also fill with criminals and their environment is also poor so they have lesser companies, industries, workforce and all so how'd they generate the revenues? And as for Akwa ibom i know nothing about that state, ekiti have nothing and it's the poorest in sw so i knew they'd be at the bottom. 5 Likes |

phantom: Some of Anambra and Abia IGR go to Lagos cos of VAT being paid to Lagos on products that are shipped down to both states. Also, both states have so many traders who usually don't like paying tax. Much of the high IGR from States like Edo and Ondo come from high taxation. If most of the traders in Anambra and Abia can start paying tax, both states should fall among the top 7 states with the highest IGR. |

kingigwe1: If they say every state should control its resources, your Niger delta states will still squander everything the same way they are doing with their heavy allocations, 13% derivatives, ministry of Niger delta, NDDC, amnesty and other resources being channelled to them which have being managed by Niger delta indigens. So Bro, Hausa people and resource control are never your problem but Your fellow Niger deltans are your real problems. 8 Likes |

irepnaija4eva: Aside bad governance, u really dont know how useless the current structure of the Nigeria state is. The current structure pushes everything to Lagos state. No state has any viable business like that. The entire nigeria investment goes mainly to Lagos and Abuja. This is due to main government controlled agencies have their head quarters in Lagos and abuja. This, aside the ports in Lagos, make business and investors to site their head offices in these two cities. That has greatly affected other states. Also, the way nigeria is structured, the federal govt is way too richer than the component states. This is not healthy. Almost all governors have houses in abuja and Lagos, they have hotels and investments in Lagos and abuja, all government offices are all controlled from Lagos and abuja. Nigeria is such a useless country. South africa has three official federal capitals. Why? They want investments to move around. Nigeria has intentionally suppressed other regions from growing due to fear of breakup. Very funny something.. If nigeria wants to really grow, there is nothing Buhari can do, or even Atiku. The best nigeria can do is to be sincere with her existence. First, understand that regions can break up if they feel uncomfortable with the union. And to avoid that, the country needs to work for all regions. The federal govt must reduce her work loads becus we have situations where states take up federal projects. I mean states that are struggling to earn, they have to take up federal govt projects like roads, etc. That is so wrong. States fund police, support the military, etc. Still from their little fund they get. So what is federal govt doing with all the money she earns? Federal govt controls the most juicy parts of making money in the country, so the federal govt should be able to take care of all her projects without lacking. If we look at it seriously, states have more things to do than FG, that is why I support complete change of allocation. To me, states should handle their natural resources and pay royalties to FG. States have more responsibilities to take care, yet FG earns more than states with huge gap. In fact, FG remains liability becus the national assembly and many FG agencies just have directors and staff who are over paid and earn crazy allowances while states struggle to pay their staff. Nigeria is poorly structured. Who ever that wants to fix Nigeria must look at her constitution and change many things. It is either the country embraces six FG capitals to bring development closer to all regions, or the country simply allow states control her resources more. States should control water too and allow FG percentage portion. Also system of election needs to be worked on so that states can be discouraged from birthing kids anyhow without proper planning. The current system supports over breeding.. 11 Likes 1 Share |

It is no secret and not surprising that the funds generated mainly in the southern states are what is keeping Nigeria going. The nauseatingly disgusting thing about the whole issue is that some states that were created in the north do not have the population or the resources to be a viable state, but as always things are done in Nigeria not based on merit but on ethnic sentiment. And the irony of it is that some of these states that are "takers" and do not contribute iota to the development of the country get more federal allotment than some of the states in the south that contribute much more to the federal purse. This is a clear example of "monkey dey work, baboon dey chop." 2 Likes |

This is the major reasons the North are against Restructuring of Nigeria. Nigeria is built on a fraudulent foundation. It is quite obvious for the blind to see. 1 Like |

Kennydoc:I know these sorts of reports play serious havoc with your poor sense of tribal self-esteem, but you really need to stop repeating this nonsensical lie: if the states were allowed to keep any of the VAT collected within them, the dominance of Lagos in the IGR stats would be even more lopsided than it already is, as Lagos alone is responsible for over 55% of all VAT revenue in the country. And if wishes were horses, beggars would ride. How do you know Edo and Ondo suffer from "high taxation"? Do you have any GDP numbers to support such a claim? And how do you know Anambra and Abia could raise such high revenues without GDP figures for them as well? Unless you can back your wild claims with numbers sources from reputable sources, all you've done here is reveal your wounded tribal pride for the world to see. 3 Likes |

Xander85: Denial won't take you anywhere, get rid of those id#ts u voted into power who do nothing but squander ur allocation & when federal government tries to help you,You start shouting witchunt & blowing up pipelines. While they allocate life pensions for themselves Gombe should not even have low revenue, Ashaka cement alone gives them over a hundred million monthly but they still find ways to squander. |

BeautifulMind2:More ridiculous puffery meant to salve wounded tribal pride. By your dubious reasoning, Greece and Argentina are both poorer countries than Nigeria, as they have both declared bankruptcy in the past decade. To say a state is "not owing civil servants" is no more praiseworthy than saying you fed your children today: all it shows is how accustomed you are to Nigeria's abysmally low expectations for governance. 1 Like |
