The Lagos State Government is leaving no stones unturned to make sure that the state is motorable and conducive for use. The new Ilaje Waterfront Jetty will be commissioned today by the outgoing govenor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. Mr. Ambode today unveil state of the art ferries that will ply the axis, according to him, this will be part of efforts to scale up water transportation in Lagos and also to decongest traffic across the road.

"It is pertinent to note that the Lagos State Government has procured seven ferries, five of which will be commissioned and they are named after monumental events, notable towns and Lagos deities as a reminder of our historical values. The names are –Itesiwaju Eko, Ipakodo, Alausa, Adamu-Orisa, Ejinrin, Eko-Akete, and Zangbeto. These are ferries that the citizens will find comfortable, safe as well as affordable.

Named Bariga Waterfront Jetty, the ferry terminal is an initiative of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration to further scale up the integrated transportation system of the State Government aimed at ensuring seamless connectivity within the State.

The state-of-the-art jetty is situated at the tail end of the upgraded Ilaje Road which provides access to the terminal from Akoka Road, abuts the lagoon front facing the Third Mainland Bridge.

It sits on a reclaimed land area of over 2000 square meter with facilities such as generous parking area that can conveniently accommodate 150 cars and ample space for park and ride buses for those that will want to park their cars to get to their various destinations through the terminal by ferry.

NOTE: These ferries look like those we have seen at LASWA head office at Falomo in Ikoyi, we can't say of they are the same or a brand new one, trust us to get more detailed report in our next story.

I think all lagosian should celebrate Ambode on the day he will be leaving office. Just get yourself a white polo with I LOVE AMBODE written on it in blue
In a country where almost all the politicians are doing nearly nothing to improve the well being of the masses, celebrating Ambode to encourage the likes of Umuahi is not a bad idea. Ambode lost second term because he care more about the masses than the few rich ones who had wanted him to dance to their tune. I think the masses should convinced him that he did the right thing.

Please what is state-of-the-art here?

Just because they are painted white doesn't mean they are recent models or even bought brand new.
I know no Afonja governor can purchase brand new vehicles for his kinsmen knowing how accomplished vandals they are.

Your stupidity na follow come.

Thank you for this .

Ambode only sin is not bringing the money for the likes of Tinubu and his alaye party lords to share. Lagosians would rather have a Tinubu that did nothing for 8 years aside empower touts, than an Ambode that chose to work for the people.

I even heard one stupid anchor on classic FM today, Jimi saying that projects are not legacies. The same idiots that would complain if Ambode is not embarking on any project.

Thank you Ambode for standing with the people and not with the criminal lords of Lagos.

Governor Ambode na man you be.

They are trying so hard to erase all you've done but history will favor you as one of the best Governors in the history of Lagos state.

In four years your impact were felt as far Bach as Abule Egba and Ajah respectively.

God bless you sir.

Nairaland will shrivel up and die if the trend is not reversed. We are not all haters of Ibo or Yoruba or Hausa or whoever. Truth and justice should be our goal. The persons sponsoring the divisiveness on nairaland are most probably the ones doing so on the national stage. They are ripping us off. The paid hacks on the forum are the most unfortunate. This has got to stop.
