Congratulations!
Cryptomania:
Celebrating small wins.

On the quest of increasing my CRS scores, I started the CIMA journey few months ago. I weighed my options then between BCS and CIMA and I found that CIMA would be the fastest, but it came with a price, "Hard work and total dedication". I just passed the certificate level (BA1 - BA4) and will start with the evaluation this week. It took me approximately four months to complete. Preparing for my IELTS now.

Whatever you need to increase your score, JustDoIt.

Las las, all road leads to Maple land.

Yes. Include a link to that guy's story/case where he had paid RPR fee for himself and wife, but his wife was already PR and in Canada so his money was refunded by CIC subsequently. Sorry if my facts aren't all correct, but it's something along these lines. I don't know what page either. But it's in at least 2 places in this part. One was where he raised the issue, second was where he updated that his money was refunded.
ladymarshall:
In few more pages, we'll be moving to part 9. We're getting close to 500+

The new page one should be updated with latest information on ECA especially the new processing timelines;
Information on applying as self-employed should be added.

Any other vital info?

At the beginning of this part, everyone celebrated your PPR gist. We would like to read your landing gist before this part ends. Please update us.
Topsmamen:

1. Common-Law Application: I think the major highlight of part 8 is @Sandydav's PPR here. Definitely a page 1 material.

2. Applying as self-employed: Information on applying as self-employed exists on PPR stories by njbybrthnly, shyee and bigfido and on some other posts/comments.

3. Gift Deeds: A gift deed sample can be found here. More details on gift deeds shared by @cochtrane here.

4. Child Custody: here

It will end in sweet praise for us all.

Oh yes! This is also worthy to note. It was @Liz2014's brother. I have edited my previous post to include this.

Question on POF

Hello Good people,

While awaiting PPR email,I am thinking of converting money in my POF (Money Market) to dollars and keep in my Domiciliary Account to hedge against Devaluation (in view of naira devaluation rumour circulating), I do not want to loose money wink
my question:
is there a risk CIC may view this as fresh funds as i don't know if CIC will track how long the funds have been held for?

Gurus please advise.Thanks

I understand your plight
That is why I recommend at least keeping 50% upwards of proof of funds in USD /EUR.

The naira is a useless currency at risk of becoming useless at any time.

But some people were criticising me

Hello house. I have an MSC certificate. If I use WES for result verification, do I still require to verify WAEC results?

Please kindly help on this, can my wife who is a graduate nurse(BNSC) also use WES for her certificate evaluation.
If no, please which body can she use to evaluate her result.
Thank you in anticipation.

Good evening my handsome and beautiful elders in the house, please,I need a clarification on the pof and cash at hand.
Can someone remove some amount of money from pof to be used as cash at hand a day or two days before travelling after the statement of account has been printed as total pof for the family of two to show the immigration when landing?.
What is the implications?
Thanks

Post ITA Gurus in the house please:

Q1: "Provide complete details of military and/or paramilitary service for any country in whose armed forces "ABA ACA" has served at any time": Should I include NYSC here?

Q2: Please confirm that I do not have to include my secondary school education as I am not claiming points for it (finished secondary school over 15 years ago)

Thanks

Good evening everyone. I am a silent reader here and I have learnt so much. I have a question please. I wrote TEF not long ago and my results were very high. Now, if I put French (TEF) as my 1st language and English (IELTS) as my 2nd language, my CRS score comes to 490. However, if I put English as my 1st language and French as my 2nd language, my CRS score drops to 445. Will it be an issue if I put French as my first language seeing as I am a Nigerian and English is our first language here? Or it does not matter which I put as my 1st language? I am worried I might be asked to prove something. Awaiting anyone's response, please. Thank you.

Hi

I'm processing alberta as well, submitted my forms today. I'm going to PM you now...

Hi, I am interested in knowing about Alberta pnp. What is your Job Description and how long were you in the pool before you got NOI from Alberta. Do you have to courier any documents to them after accepting or all is done online. Thanks

I'm impressed to hear you did better in French. I'll advise you use French as your first language . Most important thing is getting ITA and PR.
Also, i will need your advise on Tef. I have very little knowledge of French from my pry and sec sch. How long do u think it will take me to get a very good score in TEF. ? My CRS is 409 and French is the only option left to boost my crs score as i already have Msc and 15 years work experience in accounting. Pls kindly respond and help me out. Thanks.

Hi Denov. Sorry if I am not replying properly. I’m new on this forum. My French is pretty good. I had a personal teacher for almost a year and that got me to A2 level but he left the country and then I just continued reading and practicing on my own. I’m on a C1 level for speaking and listening and about B1 level for reading and writing, but only because I hardly use it. I will advise you go to the TEF forum created here and also attend classes at Alliance Française. Self study can be quite daunting because you don’t know if you’re right or not. Or you could also try “Lingoda”. I love the language so it was easier for me to learn it. I hope I was helpful.

Hello, following my earlier post I’ve received several PMs regarding my experience with the Computer based IELTS and whether I’d recommend it. I’ve put thie points below together from memory to help those who might be considering it. In case I remember anything else, I’ll modify and update it please.
Again this is from my experience.
If you are conversant with scrolling while reading through documents, this might be the option for you. I’m told some people aren’t used to scrolling whilst reading on the computer.

I’ve taken the paper based IELTS before and maybe it was the test centre that put me off but it was noisy and I easily got distracted. Also there were so many people, so imagine some people getting up to use the loo, shifting in their seats, fidgeting, coughing etc. Particularly for Listening, the sound was played over a speaker for the paper test. In the computer test, it’s played via headphones and you can adjust the volume to your liking as if you're listening to a podcast on your phone.

For the computer delivered test, you'll also be given a piece of paper and a pencil to take notes where necessary so that shouldn’t be a worry. If you’re not given, you have a right to ask.

British Council also provided noise-cancelling head phones which I continued wearing throughout the rest of the test (listening came first, then R and W. I wore them during reading and writing as well) so I was in a peaceful world of my own in my cubicle. I couldn’t hear any of the typing sounds from the other test-takers . There were only 3 of us anyway. People still prefer the paper test it seems...because over 60 people sat for the paper test earlier that day.

And of course the results come out pretty quickly, (3 working days) so that for me was the biggest attraction.

Because it is electronically-timed, the moment your time runs out for either Listening/Reading/Writing, the screen blacks out and you can’t input anything. However say for example there are 3 sections in Reading, you can keep going back and forth, up and down to cross check your work until the entire 60minutes for Reading are up, just like on the paper test.

Also you get a word counter for the writing section which is a great bonus...in my opinion. So you are always aware of how far or close you are to your target word limit.

I advise watching YouTube videos to see what it looks like. It looks a bit more complicated on YouTube than it actually is in real life. Search for “IELTS computer based/delivered tests”. You can also search videos discussing the two (computer or paper based) options and see which you’re comfortable with. For me, truly I just couldn’t wait two weeks to get my results so there was no doubt in my mind it had to be the computer test.

Also I hate proofreading my handwriting haaaa.

I hope someone finds this helpful.

I believe you can put either one

Canada has the two languages as official languages

I know a person who did this andhas long left naija

It's no biggie
