The Lagos State Taskforce seems to be a sanitization tour in Ikorodu as men of the Lagos State Government Taskforce, Nigeria Police, RRS and other agencies stormed the popular Ikorodu area thereby seizing hundreds of bikes (Okada) from the riders. The Okadas are much that it takes about 3 big trucks of the Lagos State Taskforce to load them while they put the remaining inside the police vans. Some riders are not so lucky as they were arrested and put inside the "Black Maria".

In a trending video gotten by AutoReportNG, we noticed that the raid happens at Ikorodu Bus Stop on Wednesday, May 15.

So far, none of the officials of the Lagos State Government has released any statement on the seizure and what will be the fate of the riders that are arrested.

In Lagos, there are hundreds or routes where Okadas are banned in the state and Ikorodu is part of those areas, for example, Okada and tricycle are not allowed to pass through Ikorodu Road (from Mile12 to Ikorodu Benson Roundabout), Ipakodo – Ibesha Road, Lagos – Ikorodu Express Road, Ikorodu – Itoikin Road, Igbogbo Road among others.

Okada and Keke Napep have being a source of transportation for the residents living in Ikorodu has both the state and the federal government have neglected the road. The road is so bad that even the students of LASPOTECH most times are forced to take the short way to way. Even though Arab Contractors has started work on some parts of the road but the pace of the work is slow and nothing to be hopeful about.

While we await a statement from the Lagos State Government, we are hopeful that the seized bikes will be released to the others soon as this is their source of income except the state government want these folks to resort to crime.

Some of the Okada Riders complained bitterly that over Five thousand motorcycles have been seized and taken out of Ikorodu in the past one week.

These are some of the images and video we have for you.

The menace of okada riders is just too much

And the annoying part is that they no dey hear word.stop speeding they won't hear and after being arrested they'll start playing victim

The worst part is their impunity and recklessness in disobeying traffic laws and their lack of consideration. For other road users and those Crossing the road.they deserve it.they lack respect for even others and deserve no empathy. If you are on the pedestrian side walking they don't mind climbing on your feet just to pass and insult you for complaining. They're nuisances and irritants

very soon security agents will be arresting peope for trekking in certain roads. provide jobs and see people abandoning okada business. annoying thing is that they would ask them to pay #50000 as fine. I think fine for any traffic offence should not be more than #2000 or community service for 8 hours.
