The Federal Government, Tuesday, said it is coming up with a policy that would remove the ownership of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG, cylinders from consumers. Speaking at a stakeholders’ forum on LPG penetration in Abuja, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, said the policy would require that the ownership of the cylinders rests strictly with the dealers and distributors, adding that this was part of strategy to deepen the penetration of LPG, also known as cooking gas and address issues of safety.

I don't get it, will they also insist that stoves and kerosine lamps would be taken ownership by the govt too? Since I hear more about kerosine stove and lamp explosions than I hear of gas explosion.

Why does the government need to step in? If the companies want to provide this service fine. It doesn't sound much different from water delivery service.

I don't understand, what is wrong with these politicians?
Has buhari infected all of them with his stupidity or what?
So gas owners will no longer own the cylinders?

So who will own the cylinders? FG or buhari?

If I want to buy gas now, I will first of all go to the federal government to buy the cylinder or what?

This news seem like a hoax. I don't think FG will be this daft and useless.

This is a great development. Many of us had been waiting for this day in Nigeria.

The use of cannisterS or 'cylinders' as fondly called in Nigeria is archaic as well as barbaric in the least.

Ordinarily, this implies that the government will supply domestic gas through pipelines and other means in which a house owner can access it by being connected. Payment for subscription can be subsequently made online.

All these are already in place decades ago in advanced countries.

Next in line should be underground cables for power distribution.

God bless Nigeria!

No. You didn't read what was posted.
The text said Distributors would take ownership of the cylinders while customers are to maintain a certain distributor and go to him for a refill should their gas get exhausted.
Goodluck started it but individuals sabotage government activities to the extent that the cylinders wastes away while others were stolen.

I think it is a good policy but it is better they just subsidize the cylinder before people take them and go sell it as scrap to be recycle.
