You can earn legitimate income from exporting agricultural produce to the overseas
Nigeria is blessed with rich natural resources, agricultural produce and other commodities like charcoal, honey, etc
By nature, every country has its comparative advantage over others.
Japanese are good in technology,United Kingdom are good in medicine
Ghana has gold
South Africa has diamonds
Nigeria has crude oil and fertile land for cash crops
Most of our agro products are of high yeild and good quality at the international market.
As long as there is life, people all over the world will continue to demand for agricultural produce No matter how bad the economy may be, people must eat in order to survive.
Clothes can be managed but food is essential for life
Because our agro products are of high yeild and good quality at the international market, there is high demand for them
They are sold at very attractive prices.Basically, there are 2 category of exporters
Because the are highly demanded for out there, you can make good money venturing into export business
1: The licenced
2. The unlicensed
Some people have relatives or friends abroad.
They package egwusi in Ghana-must-go bags, take them to the airport, freight the package/consignment to their relatives/friend residing abroad. The relative/friend gets the consignment, sell the content and repatriate the proceeds (funds) via western union money transfer, money gram, wire transfer, etc
At the end of the day, they'll say they are into export business.
They are actually exporting but are not licensed /permitted to do such business.
Export business goes beyond this.
They are doing this at their own risk because they can be caught by customsNo insurance cover
Their mind is not at rest
They are not entitled to EEG Export expansion grants
They cannot do volume of export goods
If you want to become a licenced exporter, you will have to register with the NEPC
Nigeria Export Promotion Council
This way you can be trading in 20ft or 40ft containers to people you've never seen before
You'll be entitled to government grants for exporters
The EEG is 15% cost of export goods you exported subject to a minimum of N5million in the precedding year of assessment
This is one of the so many ways the Nigerian government is encouraging non-oil export business in the country
For the sake of the economy at the moment, it is better to engage in export business than importation.
You can start export business with as low as N100k
From a humble beginning, one can start small and become a big merchant, well respected both at home and abroad
As a starter in the export business, you can start exporting as an unlicensed, gain exposure before registering with the NEPC.But if you register straight with the NEPC, better for you.

Knowing where to source for export products is the beginning of success in the business
The best thing is to take advantage of your location and source for cheap and qualityA foreign client (buyer) in Europe may request for crayfish.Even if you reside in Abuja, you may have to travel to calabar or Rivers state to source for the crayfish or get a trusted agent to assist
Where in Nigeria can I find crayfish in large quantity, good quality and cheap should come to your mind.Let's see some items and know where they are sourced from.. Chilli pepper
This product is of high demand in Asia, Europe, US, etc
Giwa town -Kaduna state.Dawanau market in Kano State
You can find high quality chilli pepper in Bakori -Katsina state
Makarfi - Kaduna
The next item is Ginger. For the purpose of export, dried ginger is better
[m You can find this product in Kafanchan -Kaduna
[m Nassarawa state
Jabba also in Kaduna (southern part).Nigeria has one of the best ginger in the world
The product is highly medicinal
Our competitors are China, Peru, Brazil, etc
PKO -Palm kernel oil
Palm oil, Palm kernel oil, Palm kernel shell. One can export the oil extract (well packaged), Palm kernel oil or the shells, separately
This can be sourced in Ogun, Osun, Edo, Delta, PH, Rivers and other eastern states
Groundnuts
Kano, Niger, Kwara, Kaduna, Bauchi, etc
: It still sell well abroad
This used to be a cash crop from the northern part of the country
Hibiscus flower.Hibiscus flower is the real name
This is what we call zobo
We can source them in Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Sokoto, etc. This product is in high demand abroad.
It is very effective for patient with high blood pressure
It is used for red wine, Chapman drinks, food colouring
Mexico is our best customer
Sometimes last, we had issues exporting hibiscus flower to Mexico because of pest infected consignment
: That made Nigerian Export index to drop, drastically. We can source them from Sokoto, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Bauchi, etc
This product is used for pharmaceuticals. It is in high demand in Asia and Europe. This 2 litre container packaging above goes for $30 to $45 overseas but can be purchased locally for between N2,500 to N5,000.

Do a simple calculation @N360 per dollar. You can less $8 each bottle for expenses such as sourcing, transport, packaging, clearing, etc

You can see the whopping margin you stand to gain all things being equal.
Good honey can be sourced from Lokoja, Enugu, Adamawa, etc
Yam
This product can be exported raw or by adding value by way of grinding to get yam flour powder or yam chips
