INSTRUMENT CALIBRATION AND MAINTENANCE

OVERVIEW:
This course has been designed to introduce participants to the basic principles of instrument calibration and maintenance. They will learn about the responsibilities of the instrument technician and the importance of accuracy and documentation. The participants will gain knowledge in the various calibration procedures of various types of measuring instruments. Upon completion of the course participants will have a better understanding of the technology and methods associated with instrument calibration and maintenance. They will have gained a better knowledge of its purpose and importance in the operations cycle. With the knowledge gained, technicians will be able to expand their skills through on-the-job training, as well as practical experience gained on the plant site.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the training course, the attendees will be able to:

• Identify instrument test equipments and calibration setups (Eg. Pressure pump, piping & tubing, fittings, deadweight testers etc.)
• Calibrate flow, level, pressure and temperature measurement devices
• Recognize the importance of maintenance in the proper operation of instruments and control systems
• Use manufacturer's guidelines to configure instruments for specific process applications
• Use piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID), wiring, schematic, and installation detail drawings to install, calibrate, and verify proper operation of instruments
• Explain the relevance of ISO 9000 standards to maintenance practices and procedures
• Observe safe practices when carrying out repairs and calibration activities.
• Understand Zero and span 4 – 20ma current loops
• Calibrate I to P convertors
