FG Fulfils Pledge Of House To Westerhorf After 25 Years by abc115: 12:22am On May 28, 2019
The Federal Government yesterday fulfilled a 25 –year pledge to former Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles, Clemens Westerhof.
At an impressive ceremony inside the conference room of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Abuja, the Minister, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) said the occasion was a further proof that the Buhari administration was “committed to putting right the wrongs of yesterday and redressing all forms of yesterday’s injustice”.
Westerhof, a Dutchman, was head coach of the Super Eagles’ Class of 1994 – appropriately –styled Golden Generation – that won Nigeria’s first –ever FIFA World Cup ticket, won Nigeria’s first Africa Cup of Nations title on away ground and reached the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup in USA.
“Mr. Westerhof ended our long –time search for a FIFA World Cup ticket, and afterwards went on to lead the team to Africa Cup of Nations glory. As a nation, we made promises, but there was no follow-up.

“I want the NFF to document those members of the squad that have not received their houses in the FCT as promised, and as soon as we receive this, we will respond positively. I was made aware that the promises had not been fulfilled through a letter by the assistant coach, Mr. Johannes Bonfrere, and we arranged for him to get his own in December 2017. Six months later, at the FIFA World Cup in Russia, a prominent journalist, Mr. Onochie Anibeze, brought it to my notice that the head coach, Mr. Westerhof was yet to receive his own house. We immediately initiated the process which has culminated in today’s event. The 2nd Vice President of NFF, Mallam Shehu Dikko, who represented NFF President Amaju Pinnick at the occasion, praised the initiative of Mr. Fashola and his ministry, saying the redemption of the pledge was a positive sign to footballers and other sportsmen and women that promises would always be fulfilled, no matter how long it took. “We wll compile a list of those who have not received their houses and revert back to the Ministry”, Dikko said. An elated Westerhof, who flew into Nigeria from The Netherlands on Sunday night, said: “I am overjoyed. I want to thank the Nigerian government for this, and I want to assure you that you will now see more of me in Nigeria. “Nigeria is my second fatherland, and I am proud of what we were able to achieve with the players in those years. They were disciplined, dedicated and determined to lift Nigeria high, and we took Nigeria from 79th position to 5th in the world. I am thankful. However, I feel sad that some of my players have left us. May their souls rest in peace.” Minister Fashola afterwards presented the letter of allocation of the house to Westerhof.

It's better for you to try and make out even if it's a minute of your life time and be happy. You don't have to spend all your life time in self imposed agony. This life is very short. That's why Jonathan and other PDP members that buhari gave a sound bitten in 2015 have long moved on, while you are still in nairaland wailing, crying and hating anything good that buhari has done in this country.

Otherwise, I don't know why it rather turned out to be a bad news to you that the government fulfilled a promise made to someone who added immense value to our country's sports profile Since 25 years ago.

Or how such move should attract to the present government a worst performance rating according to you, than the previous governments who made the promise and ignored it.

Greatest coach Nigeria ever had...

When we had issues after his departure, i prayed for them to call him back.

Infact at a point, he begged to come back, but you would know some people at the Football Association didn't want him.

Thanks for your service!

You think you're playing opposition politics but you're just advertising your stupidity to the whole world.

PDP that cursed gang of thieves, murderers and looters ruled Nigeria for 16 years and they didn't do anything about this. Under 4 years, APC has given Bonfrere Jo, Westerhof and is asking for those yet to receive to come receive theirs.

You are here talking nonsense when your folks under PDP slavery in Abia are celebrating Ikpeazu for using kerosene to pay your daddy's pension. If you had an iota of commonsense, you'll shut up.

Westerhof that tried for us. We are fulfilling the pledge after 25 years. I'm glad he's still alive today to witness this moment.
Food for thought
If 'governments' can take 25 years to fulfill a pledge to Westerhof, how many years do you think it would take for them to get us to the promised land?

This is how vision 2020 will happen next year and boko haram will still be terrorising the north.
Fulani herdsmen terrorising the middle-belt.
Yahoo and skull-mining in the west.
Yahoo and kidnapping in the east.
Pipeline explosion and cultism in the south-south.

Which way my people?

It's obvious food is the only problem you have in that place, no wonder your governor gave you what you deserve- 2 liters of kerosene. You not only returned him, it was by landslide.

Direct your questions to the party of thieves, murderers and looters who ruled ruled for 16 years and could not do what Apc did in 4 years.

If the Pdp fulfilled that promise in their 16 cancerous years, would this government do it again?

Friendly advise....

edit your post, $500 billion dollars cant be stollen from a $900 billion economy as their isnt enough liquidity for that, to give you the idea Nigeria earn just $5.7billion dollars last year from total oil sale, our reserves isnt up to $50 billion, and i doubt if Nigeria was up for sale we would be worth more than a conservative $trillion dollars
Friendly editing!

$500 BILLION DOLLARS IN THE LOOTED AND WASTED YEARS OF PDP IN POWER!!

Money that could have made Nigeria far better than many European countries, where all of us would have been living in peace and happiness.
But for where?!
They all shared it among themselves, and the most painful thing everyday is seeing some miserable and frustrated youths still supporting these criminals that looted their lives and the future of their unborn kids!
