A foreign friend of mine wrote the below complaint about/to Bet9ja (has anyone experienced a similar thing):


Hello,

I am utterly disappointed and embarrassed by the attitude of your customer care agents.

I got a reply that appear racially motivated.

My account was suspended or deactivated.

I could not log in since yesterday.

I was asked to provide documents to verify my identity.

I had withdrawn the sum of N22,000 and deposited to my FCMB corporate account that bears my own surname (*** *** ***). For this reason, my account was suspended. I had severally deposited money to Bet9ja through this same corporate account. Then I had no issues in depositing from that account. Why do I have issues for withdrawing and depositing into it? And the withdrawal was approved by you! If it was a wrong withdrawal method, you ought to have decline the transfer, not deactivate my profile.

Immediately I made a withdrawal into the same bank account I was paying Bet9ja from, my profile on Bet9ja was suspended all of a sudden and without any notice. It makes me wonder if Bet9ja is a platform only to deposit money and not a platform to equally withdraw. I provided (through email) my passport data page copy, I provided my company documents, and my Nigeria Immigration Resident Card. All to no avail. The replies I got sounded as if I was being attended to by unlearned fellows. One of them said that the documents I provide must be issued and be acceptable in Nigeria. I took offense in this, as if it is a subtle message telling me that being a foreigner, my passport is not acceptable. I pointed out that my valid resident card was issued by the Nigerian Immigration. Most times I get no replies to hold a dialogue or to continue the dialogue and resolve the contested points. They leave me blank and unaware. They reply with a sentence or two repeating the same instructions.

I was told that the image of my passport data page was cropped. I then had to snap the passport from different angles while holding it, just to prove that it is genuine and I am genuine.

I have money in my account and I also have bet slips. It appears to me that there is more to blocking my profile than simply need for verification. It makes me wonder if Bet9ja doesn't want anyone to play and win but should always pay and lose. This attitude of suspending account of a customer will dent the credibility of your business. Users ought to have been verified at the registration process, so that no one will feel his rights are infringed. It is a breach of the trust I put in your business to block my account while I have money and bet slips in it. And you guys do not send email receipts of payments or a soft copy of bet slips to customers email, as proof, like other betting sites do. The customer is completely taken for granted as such. And now I am subjected to the attitude of your customer agents who sent me very mindless replies that sound indifferent and quite offensive.

I want this issue resolved amicably in earnest. I do not want the situation whereby I would have to start spreading this gist about your business online. I am giving utmost patience for this to be resolved and my account reactivated. Otherwise, I will not let this just go by. I will follow it up to the last step, even if it means asking my lawyer to write your organization.

I want this to be resolved amicably and for such not to reoccur and for you to take necessary steps to avoid such complications: verification of users and bank details during registration and sending receipts for payments and bet slips to users email address.

It is disheartening that I have spent hundreds of thousands of Naira on your website using the same bank account to fund my bets. The moment I won a meagre 60k and I withdrew 22k, my profile on your website got suspended.

Please I look forward to this issue being resolved soonest.

All the man needs is help, the customer care agents on bet9ja have already given the man a bad impression with their unruly attitude.

The man doesn't need another unruly response, at least, show him Nigerians are not in the stone age like most foreigners assume.

It is the least you can do, be nice.

Assuming the said owner puts this on front page what happens? People starts suing the company or they get barraged by complaints or what I dont understand... You can further enlighten me. Nigerians are not stone aged but you are. How does an innocent question gets tagged as an unruly reply. Its people like you when you hear words like ,you're mad , you take offense. When it could actually mean one is angry. Abeg no quote me again. Na jeje I dey crack my joke for here no make me open dictionary ontop your head. If you never chop go buka. If my comment vex you drink water. Even the op wey the thing touch reply in a mature way pass you wey be committee of commentators.

Why won't I take offence when someone tells me "you are mad". I'm I mad? Did God create me Mad? Do I have any plans or aspirations to be mad?

A colleague at work had something similar...

It's called KYC, know your customer.....
These are included in the terms and conditions.

My colleague was al Aya crediting his winnings to his son's account, he also opened the acct in the son's name.

Only God can say how they got to know this?
They demanded for means of identity, which he couldn't produce.
He wrote several mail, nothing was done...

He lost over 350k
