As a bachelor with no kids, I avoid dating or getting hopes up for single mothers because I feel it's important to do things with foresight. For one, I don't date exclusively without marriage in mind. Waste of time and play otherwise.

No matter how much money she has, One of the expectations a wife has of her husband, is that he have a provider mentality. This is a complaint made time and time again by several women, no matter how well-off she is. It's how she feels loved. A provider mentality will also see him providing for her children...

But how hard can a person sacrifice themselves for children that aren't their own? Can you strip of your being and pay for college for that child? Can you go into debt for that child? How deep will that investment go? Would it be fair to expect these of you when the child doesn't even carry your name? Even if the mother allows you to adopt her children (some apparently don't), when more "legitimate" children are spawned from the union, how will things change? Won't that be competition?...competition against your actual blood?

A legacy is a hard enough thing to build these days without starting it on such unstable foundations. These things are very real and serious dynamics.

I feel like If at all this kind of union would work, it would be in a case where her kids are already out of the house...or if he already has his own children.
