SECRETARY to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed, announced Thursday in Abuja that Nigeria will celebrate her 50th Independence anniversary with new N50 denomination bearing the celebration’s logo.

Represented by the Director General of Nigeria at 50, Baba Kaigama, Yayale noted that the new note will be launched alongside commemorative coins.

The redesigned N50 commemorative note, he added, and the non-circulation coins will be launched by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as part of activities to mark the event.

Yayale said: "Both the current and new N50 notes will be in circulation until the CBN decides whether it will replace the current notes.
