@Tella26 better to ask for a TOEFL waiver than to submit that atrocious score. Retake the exam, it might be useful for assistantships.

@Kevwemanuel Yes is the answer to all the questions except no. 3, which is No. For 6. your application won't be considered complete until you submit your GRE scores though. Some may accept unofficial scores for the GRE until your offer comes.

7. Check the GRE thread for more information.

ybahrbz91:
Good morning house.
kindly help review my proposed transcript.
Why are you going to USA?
I am going to USA for my masters in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Illinois, Chicago.(UIC)

How many schools and why UIC
2, Concordia university Wisconsin and UIC.
I choose UIC because of an ongoing research at the brain Plasticity Laboratory aimed at improving optimal functions among stroke survivors which aligns with my career interest. Headed my Dr sands who has consented to me volunteering at the Laboratory.
Another reason I choose UIC is because of its multidisciplinary approach towards the management of stroke survivors, this brings together professionals from different fields in other to attain optimal functional recovery.

Why this course?
After the completion of my first degree in Medical Rehabilitation(physiotherapy major), I have had the opportunity to practice both in the public and private health sector and having witnessed the multiple hassles being faced by stroke survivors and their caregivers and challenges in attaining an optimal functional recovery, I was propelled to further in the field of Neuro-rehabilitation.

What will this course do for you?
As a physiotherapist, a masters degree in Rehab science affords me the opportunity to seek for the post of a neuro-rehabilitation specialist at any federal teaching Hospital back here in Nigeria.
In addition, a Masters degree in this course will further sharpen both my research and clinical skills which would be brought to bear in delivering an evidenced based Rehabilitation service in other to improve functional recovery among stroke survivors and hence reduce the alarming rate of premature death on my return to Nigeria.

What is your plan after your study?
I will be returning to Nigeria to seek for the job position of a Neuro-rehabilitation specialist at a federal Teaching Hospital. A field where there are only few specialist in the country.
Also, this programme does not limit me to clinical practice alone. It would also equip me to become an health consultant for various organisations in increasing the awareness on the causes and prevention of stroke.

How did you know abt the skul?
It was during an extensive research on the internet trying to improve functions in my stroke patients that I came across an ongoing research at the BPL of UIC. I was intrigued by this research technique and I checked up on the school.

Why USA?
The USA is a trailblazer in the field of Neuro-rehabilitation most especially the concept of neuroplasticity. A masters degree in US will not only expose me to state of the art research laboratories but also an opportunity to be mentored under top researchers in this field.

Why are you leaving your present job?
My career goal has always to become a Neuro-rehabilitation specialist. Taking this golden opportunity will bring me a step further towards achieving my dream.

Who is sponsoring your trip?
My dad is my principal sponsor while my uncle has also volunteered to co-sponsor me.
Close your eyes and let us pray!
Lord help me to be nice, it won't be easy, just help me. Amen!
1) If Dr. Sand dies today, would you still attend this school? I am showing you something. Previously, VOs used to be mesmerized when you talk about being captivated by a professor's ongoing research or being thrilled by the prospects of being mentored by one.
Now the jazz no too dey work. Please I beg you, come up with a better reason. You can use this to support but don't start with this I beg you.
Your second reason sounds cool so we just need to give it a nice intro
Maybe you are passionate about neurorehabilitation for stroke survivors and fortunately, the MSc program at UIC stands out because of the multidisciplinary approach or something... I hope you get the picture.
Please you have to work on why this school, ok?
Next, why this course
Do you remember what your English teacher taught you about Topic sentence? Sometimes it could be at the beginning, the middle or the end.
Let me tell you, in a visa interview, your topic sentence must be at the BEGINNING!!!
So, why this course. Just hit it. You decided to pursue M.Sc in Rehab because... gbam gbam gbam. Then you can start telling stories if you meet a patient VO.
Moving forward, what will this course do for you
You have great ideas but you didn't make much impact because you have unnecessary words causing distractions.
"which would be brought to bear in delivering an evidenced based Rehabilitation service in other"
Before you mentioned to improve the stroke survivor kini, I already lost interest coz these unnecessary lines distracted me.
So why not tie your answers together, like the degree qualifies you for a position, and in that position, having already gotten the necessary skills, you would be able to attenuate premature death in stroke victims or something.
I pray you see what I am showing you please. Your answers should always reinforce each other.
If your dad's SOA can cover your cost, you really don't need to talk about your uncle. My opinion though.
Ok, I am really tired, I think I will stop here. I just didn't want you to feel ignored, that's not nice at all.
I wish you all the best my friend. Go get that visa!

I am really sorry you have to deal with this, I also know words may not really help right now. I just need you to be strong. Let your PD know the other person has been unresponsive and probably seek his/her counsel.
I believe you will get through this, you have fought so hard to get here and I am rooting for you, always.

Abuja Embassy, young white lady
Visa approved 16th July
Placed on AP 17th July -7th August
Visa issued 8th August

Me: Good morning

VO: Good morning, pass me your i20, passport
Me: passed them

VO: why are you going to the US?
Me: I'm going for my masters degree in Public Health with concentration in environmental health at ETSU, Johnson City

VO: why ETSU?
Me: the public health program at ETSU is well tailored to environmental health which is my area of concentration. The faculty is also involved in alot of research activities in environmental health including Environmental Exposure Assessment and Risk Analysis of Pathogens which perfectly aligns with my research motives.

VO: what will this course do for you?
Me: This course will give me an indept knowledge into this area of public health and will equip me with recent analytical tools/methodology to be able to coordinate public health researches in environmental health when I come back to Nigeria.

VO: what are your plans after graduation?
Me: I plan to come back to Nigeria and pick up a job in any of the tertiary health institutions as a public heath physician; use the knowledge and experience garnered in ETSU, to contribute my quota in improving the health sector by working with the federal or state ministries of Health, WHO or NGOs in providing comprehensive health care services in Endemic areas and endemic prone areas Such as IDP camps.

VO: who is sponsoring you ?
ME: I have a GA offer which comes with tuition waiver and stipends; my uncle will be assisting me with the deficit.

VO: Alright, I will be approving your visa now( with this warming smile)...other routine talks. Handed me 2 white papers and my I 20
Me: Thank you. I felt like I was dreaming. As I left the embassy I could not contain the joy. The cab I boarded I had to tell him to keep the change imagine!

A day later I received a mail from the embassy asking for supplemental information which I responded to promptly. Since day was placed on AP. Last updated 7th August and issued 8th August.

Appreciation:

This was entirely God's favour and mercy. I had to pray and fast reminding God of His promises upon my life every single day. Even booked mass join with novena to our mother of perpetual help...Catholics can relate!

Scharwarma, Fairheart, PreStan, Dreambound NL and other gurus in the house I cannot thank you guys enough for the transcript reviews and mock interviews. It's only God that can reward you for your selfless services and sacrifice in this thread. Scharwarma one bottle of your brand in Johnson city when we see

For those still on AP, three words for you guys...Pray, Prepare and Proceed. Pray and go ahead with preparations for your travel plans(except booking for flight). I know it's not easy with the anxiety and depression sometimes but to be honest the only change you can make is through prayer and faith in God. What's the worst thing that can happen!!! Will someone die? Pray and keep faith

For those that were refused, dust up and refire. Don't allow one VO in one window stop you from achieving your sweet dreams. Post your transcript for reviews, disturb the gurus for mock interview and retire. No room for quiters here...saw 9th attempt transcript sometimes here.

For those awaiting interview, in the words of Scharwarma 'just go and get that visa' most importantly don't show desperation in that way you will be more articulate in your response.

For the newbies, we were all once newbies. Just post any queries you have here no matter how stupid it seems. I am sure you must get a valuable response. Be focussed and prepare ahead for your studies abroad.

For the silent observers(I inclusive), try and say hello sometimes. Maybe you might be helping save someone's dream with your little contribution as many are helping save yours.

I will be available to help with any assistance as much as my knowledge and schedule permits.

Thank you everyone.

Good morning all,I got late admission letter from the school last month around 25th now they indicated on my admission letter that the I-20 is expecting I enter the USA by 27th of July as resumption is 26th of August I mailed the school to inform them of how far interview dates take, they replied and informed me that there is another option if registering my courses if I arrive before 6th of October.

I have successfully scheduled an appointment for this month I requested the school give me an exemption letter indicating that there I something called eight week availability of courses if I come by October, the school replied that they don't give exemption letter as the embassy should be aware of the second eight week availability of courses.

please am confused on how to carry admission letter showing August 26th with me and if that won't affect me,kindly advice me on what to do.

Guys, what should I do if my grad cord says I should mail each professor whose classes I will be taking for the first week of the semester for permission to be absent from classes but she doesn't want to give an extension letter?

In this case, if my visa eventually comes through, is it the approval mails from the professors that I will show at the port of entry?

I'll advice you focus more on your GRE for now. Put all your energy into it, it matters a lot!! You finished from OAU, so did I, so in that case you might not even end up using your TOEFL scores. because TOEFL is waived for OAU by most schools in US. So pleaseee focus on your GRE if you can score 310 and above na funding go dey chase you grin
All the best

Hmmmm OK. Thanks for this. I know I will share good testimony one day on this tread coming fall 2020.

You shouldn't be concerned about your change of marital status.. What you should be concerned is if nothing has changed from your previous application.. Your school, funding, credibility etc. The embassy care less about your marital status, whether single or married as far as F1 visa is concerned.. Once they can ascertain your credibility as a student, your visa will never be denied, and many factors are used to check this.. By the way, stating your present status honestly, if legit is an honest path.. You know what to do.. Good luck!

although its cheaper it might not be a good idea to travel with tickets that are "check in baggage not included"... Those are for people going for very short trips, as you cant do any liquid , not even toothpaste and the luggage allowance is really small .

As a new student dont you want to travel with clothes and your personal things? ..........Instead of getting to the US and then buying everything all over again

ok then you can carry a small luggage (check the size on the airline website) and also a backpack so i think two bags are fine.... Just that you dont check in anything and all liquids are off . Some liquids are allowed but in small sizes and put in the transparent bag

I was denied in Lagos, Inspire hundreds of people daily but could barely inspire myself to take that long journey to Abuja.

I have a lot to say to the Spring 20 and Fall 20 hopefuls.

Brown 2 Green has both been denied and approved. So he knows what both feels like.

God Speed to those on AP, God's speed to those waiting on the Visa.

Peace.
