Correctgist:
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that the President Buhari-led government is driving Nigeria towards “disaster and instability”.

Obasanjo said this in an exclusive interview with Premium Times at his Ibogun Olaogun ancestral home in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, last month.

The former president fell apart with Buhari ahead of the 2019 general elections and endorsed the president’s closest rival and his estranged vice president, Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking during the interview, Obasanjo noted that although the country has made considerable progress since the new dispensation began in 1999, the pace at which it is currently moving shows the nation may be inching towards disaster and instability.

“I think we have no choice but to be on the path for sustainable development. The progress we are making may be questionable Is it fast enough? Is it steady enough? Is it stable enough? Are we taking two steps forward and one step back or one step side-way?
You can question that, but we have no choice but to be on (the) path for sustainable development. Any other thing will be a disaster. In fact, the pace at which we are going now is tending more and more toward disaster and instability and unsustainability.

No Confidence in the Economy’ The former president argued that there is no confidence in the Nigerian economy today. Rather, he said, the gains recorded in the past have been frittered away over the years.

Speaking on what went wrong, the former president explained that Nigeria has failed to do what is right to instill confidence in domestic and foreign investors. The ripple effect of the nation’s indecision, he said, manifests in the state of the economy. Nigeria slipped into recession in 2016 after several contractions in the economy, amidst an unstable naira and rising inflation rates. By the second quarter of 2017, the nation slipped out of recession. Although the government claims that the nation has been put on the path of sustainable growth, unemployment figures have also ballooned within the period.

You created problems we have in Nigeria with your unprecedented corruption .You are not happy now because what you failed to do on June 12 to your fellow Yoruba man ihas been done by a Hausa leader.Your useless May 29 is rubbish now ni Nigeria. Even if Buhari is not perfect we will support him . If you are not happy with the situation on Nigeria you can relocate to Mozabigue and spend all our money you looted there. Finally you will remain useless in Nigeria forever and ever. Yours sincerely. Yoruba Hausa Igbo

Keke Napep is what tricycles are commonly referred to. While Obasanjo was still in prison, we were already riding Keke Marwa in Lagos. That's why in Lagos, it is referred to as Keke Marwa.

List Obasanjo's achievements in peace but don't make it look like Tricycles were not introduced into Nigeria by Obasanjo.
...

Brother.. stop bear parlour talk nd Google the meaning of NAPEP...prison ko, prison ni...

Obj federalized keke nd named it keke NAPEP. Just after it was popularly called marwa by ONLY lagosians

Absolutely. Something is wrong with Obasanjo. Can he not find a single positive thing to say about this government? Is he blind to the infrastructural strides being achieved in roads and rail, and even airports? What about the various welfare/poverty alleviation programs and micro credit schemes? The agricultural revolution? I haven't heard him say a single thing about those developments. He just wants us all to focus on the negative. Why?

No free money again

Most comments I read here shows the people are doomed. The truth is very obvious but people have chosen to shy away from the truth. I week for this generation.

my brother you 're absolutely correct. Obasanjo is more interested in bringing buhari government down. we in the south east can attest to infrastructural developments expecially in area of roads unlike past regimes including obasanjo government.
you can also attest to Fulani massacres

Where did Obasanjo drove Nigeria to? Corruption, insecurities etc.

He doesn't want anybody to have good records than him.

He should have done exceptionally well and left a record that no President in Nigeria can easily surpass.

Baba take heart and stop criticism

How on earth can we have president, and vice president. Senate president, speaker of house of reps ,all from the two ruling regions, when we have Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa.

Sorry. Get your facts right. We have six geopolitical regions and not two.

When OBJ a Christian was in charge there was equity and equal representation of all tribes now that Muslims are in charge there is a difference.

OBJ was in PDP. PDP is a party of thieves and rogues. Well meaning Nigerians and the world abandoned it in 2015 but not the Easterners. They voted corruption and stuck with Atiku, Obi and corruption. Go again and listen to Ebonyi Governor about Buhari and APC, go again and ask about how Biafran soldiers were paid their entitlements, go again and see the progress on 2nd Niger bridge, go again and see the progress on Enugu to Onitsha and Enugu PH road that the same PDP refused to do in your "balanced" and equal representation govt of corruption.. I am not a fan of Buhari's second term, cos, APC is almost like PDP now, however, let the truth be told.

Do you know that many people in APC were in PDP? Buhari did well in infrastructure but poorly in uniting a country with many ethnic nationalities. This is the fear of the east about APC,even the middle belt and northern states like Benue, zamfara, kano, sokoto,Adamawa dislike APC because of the diversionary antics it is championing in Nigeria.

Bridget, like i'd said earlier, there was a huge campaign of hate against APC. It was labelled an Islamic party. The folks you're referring to refused to join the party. But again, they will forever blame the party and others. Buhari did a lot for the easterners more than PDP ever did but trust me, they cannot and will not like him. They will forever complain and point fingers. Buhari is not really liked by the elitist in the North because he is old weak and not delivering on his campaign promises. However, easterners will forever lie about him and forever hate him period.
