Not particularly bothered either way, but...

First, Ghana did NOT deport 700K Nigerians (Nigerian formal investment in the Ghanaian economy runs into hundreds of millions of US dollars), and while Cameroon forcefully returned some refugees from the Boko Haram insurgency, almost 40K Southern Cameroonian are presently living in refuge in Nigeria.

South Africans nonetheless have to realize that almost every working Nigerian household/family made PERSONAL sacrifices for their liberation. Every Nigerian worker in our parents generation had to cough up at least 2.5% of their gross wages towards the Southern African Relief Fund (that catered for South African, Zimbabwean and Namibian refugees).

Nigeria inflicted significant economic harm on itself by refusing to do business with companies and countries that supported the apartheid South African regime, culminating in the expulsion of and nationalization (albeit with compensation) of the Nigerian subsidiaries and trading assets of Barclays Bank (became Union Bank), Standard Bank (became First Bank), BP (became AP or African Petroleum and presently Forte Oil), and Esso (became Eagle Petroleum, and presently Conoil). We ceded lucrative markets by refusing to sell our highly sought-after light crude oil to many Western countries (while donating free oil supplies to the five “Frontline States” bordering South Africa), and even denied Coca-Cola an operational and manufacturing license in Nigeria (leaving them to continue to rely on the Hellenic Bottling Company to franchise Coca-Cola products in Nigeria, through their subsidiary Nigerian Bottling Company).

Additionally, Nigeria provided FREE university and tertiary education for scores of South Africans and financed scholarships for many others. Nigeria also deployed considerable financial and other resources towards the campaign against apartheid across the world, culminating in Nigeria effectively assuming effective permanent control of the UN’s (standing) Special Committee Against Apartheid at the UN headquarters in New York City (initially set up in 1962), as from the 1970s onward with each Nigerian Permanent Representative virtually automatically anointed as the Chairperson of the Special Committee (except for a year or two in the mid-1970s, apparently following Gowon’s overthrow) until it’s disbandment in 1994 after the demise of apartheid and following free elections in South Africa.

It’s a shame that history is such a non-valued subject/commodity in much of Africa, because the Nigeria-South African roots run much DEEPER AND LONGER than the present generation appreciates. There’s a reason that, even during our GRANDPARENTS’ generation, Nigeria was the very FIRST place that Nelson Mandela sought political exile when he was first declared personae non-grata by the apartheid government of South Africa, arriving in Nigeria in the early 1960s (where he lived in the personal house of then Parliamentary Secretary, Mbazulike Amaechi, before deciding to return to South Africa to go underground in support of the military struggle), and why Nigeria was one of his first ports of call following his release in 1993 after 27 years in prison (and during which the Babangida government made a significantly large dollar donation to finance the electioneering campaigns of the ANC for South Africa’s first free elections ever).

For the avoidance of any doubt, none of the foregoing entitles Nigerians to a special status in South Africa, nor should earn them permanent or automatic immunity, but it should caution the beneficiaries of our collective sacrifices to treat individuals offenders individually without blacklisting an entire nation and its people or resorting to the sort of barbaric stereotypes visited upon them during apartheid.

Thank you my brother. These bastards are the ultimate reason why Nigeria is hunted in every continent of the globe.

Do you see how the pigs are bashing the South Afrikans rather than being ashamed, remorseful & telling themselves the ugly truth?

They go to South Afrika with their primitive, domineering & lousy attitudes to trigger Xenophobia against all the innocent & law-abiding Nigerians and then come on social media to play the victim card and calling Nigeria a zoo.

Go to Ghana (Spintex & East Legon), these bastards engage in armed-robbery & rape the Ghanian women, just like how they went to Dubai to rob Bureau de Change outlets. They don't ever see it as a wrong-doing; to them, it's just the normal hustling.

The name "Nigeria" has become a threat to every Country you can think of, no thanks to these primitive bastards.

They think after soiling our image & reputation abroad and spoiling the chances for other law-abiding citizens to thrive, they can come home to blackmail us into giving them Biafra? grin

You can't eat your cake and still have it. Since they they call themselves "Jews" and are confident enough that they're smarter than every other ethnicity in Nigeria, they should just go ahead and declare their Biafra and give us the excuse & opportunity of correcting the mistakes of our progenitors during the civil war.

They will go to Asia to peddle their drugs and when the Authorities throw them in prison & harvest their organs, their kiths back home would start blackmailing & cursing the FG for not intervening in the matter.

They will come online to shout that the Hausa's & Yoruba's are the problem of Nigeria but they have never sat down for once to examine themselves - to ascertain why every other tribe in Nigeria are hostile towards them.

Their brain-dead & greedy leaders enjoy playing politics of hatred & bitterness and when their offensive words or actions rebound on them, they would raise their filthy hands and start crying marginalization.

You have not seen anything yet, your Biafra will only materialize inside the anus of Lord Lugard - Inglorious Bastards!

Why can't Nigeria allow Biafra to have their freedom?

you see bro,I like Nigerians very much buh we hate it when some Nigerians claim they developed Ghana or has spent hundreds of millions of dollars in Ghana b'cos it creates an impression that they control Ghana due to these investments which some Nigerians boastfully proclaim that.Ghana will not restrict or frustrate any investor in our space as some huge Nigerian cooperations are restricted from investing or starting up businesses in other African countries.Nigeria restrict Ghanaian products from entering into their borders buh we relax such restrictions such us no Ghanaian cement company or product is to import into Nigerian market buh we allow numerous Nigerian cement products into our country.Don't mistaken our willingness to open up for business as a weakness besides most of our brothers detest the high level of Nigerian stalls, mini businesses and retailers operating in the country buh we mostly see it as an oversight due to our close relations. Our laws says any foreign enterprise must have a start up of 200,000 us dollars minimum capital buh millions of Nigerians in Ghana doing businesses fall very short of this minimum capital buh we allow them to operate and flourish. Not even Benin Republic your neighbor will allow such unlawful actions due to the francophone African countries serving one common colonial Master France and back tracking Africa unity. So please avoid such sayings when talking especially to a Ghanaian.Already the Chinese,Europeans,Americans,Indians,Arabs and the Lebanese has massively invaded our market and they have this minimum capital to flourish so we have no right to target our African brothers.Thank you.

How does this negate the fact that Nigerians in South Africa are scammers n drug peddlers ?
salford1:
The other day, my physio who happens to be a white south African was talking about how lazy black South Africans were. She mentioned they always try to blame anyone for not doing well. How they blamed them even though she and many others were very young during the apatheid era, and how they are now blaming other African citizens since blaming the afrikaans have no effect anymore.
This is a good example of what she meant.
philip0906:
Lol...Black South Africans are vile, lazy and very un-enterprising. They blame all their problems on everybody but themselves. Firstly, they blamed whites now it’s Nigerans.

Ever wondered why you hardly see white South Africans in these whole show of shame? Have you ever seen white South Africans carrying clubs or cutlass to maim immigrants? Hecka no! They’re too focused on running the economy and making money, while the black counterparts who are second class citizens rant.

Nigerian drug dealers in hillbrow and the other run down parts of Joburg are not anonymous. The law is there to deal with criminals, It should be exercised but no, they rope ALL Nigerians and tie migration to their problems when they’re just a bunch of lazy scums
Beninempire:
Who are these useless South Africans? White people are still dominating them even in their own country.
They blame everyone for their laziness and failure as a people except their selves. South Africans are the most laziest Africans Always waiting for their wives money, they Bleep all day without doing anything else.
They hate Nigerians because we go there and dominate them, we take over their economy and will soon start running for political offices, that's why they are angry. Nigerians have taken over their shops and businesses.

Well that's the problem with us Africans.... Nigeria tried it with Ghanaians years past, they thought it would make their problems go away but it actually got worse because they attacked the wrong problem... SA 'd still come to see that Nigerians re not really the problem afterwards should they deport Nigerians today.but Nigerians too ve learnt nothing from the past as they too still deport fellow Nigerians back to their home state.. Clearly you are not aware of anything SA, because if you did you would know that SAns know what their problems are hence our political space is widening and democracy maturing faster . However, we can never overlook another growing problem that needs to be eradicated before it becomes a major one as well.

I have lived in South Africa, the problem isn't the Nigerians but the corrupt practises of the South african Police.
Think of it, certain behaviours exhibited by Nigerians and other foreigners in SA cannot be practised in Nigeria.
Selling drugs on the street shocked Who born you in Nigeria or Ghana or US or UK!!!! Police will come around, pick them up, drive to the nearest
ATM and the criminals are released.
South Africans have to face the truth, as long as the police force is corrupt, there will always be an enabling climate for criminals
to thrive.
The solutions is to weed out the bad eggs in your police force and then enforce the law.
This will naturally ensure that the bad eggs will find it very uncomfortable and will leave themselves or risk prison, returning your street
to normal.

The problem of Nigeria is that Nigerians live in it.
200 million of us.

Stop saying leaders did this and that, because the leaders come from amongst you.

In addition, you tolerate their vices.

You've translated online fraud to be business and made prostitution sound less a social problem by addressing it as runs.

The Yahoo boy you glorify sometimes is a bank robber or kidnapper. But as all money for you is acceptable, except for armed robbery, he camouflages as the fraudster you like.

You don't carry out research, you claim it is a lack of electricity, what electricity are you using to perpetrate online fraud?

An AK47 costs at least 50K. A man with 50k cannot say he's hungry.

The problem is that you are too wise, lascivious, avaricious, insatiable and petty.

Your energy is mostly used for negativity and your pride never tempers you to make the right decisions.

Those that do, are becoming extinct and the rascals are breeding even more rascals.

For a moment, pause and think about your decisions.

You are one of the few who has made a very reasonable contribution to the thread without being overly defensive . True , SA had a structural problem with the police force for some years, this is now one of the main focusses of the new administration. And we are starting to see some results in some key neighbourhoods.

Strawman’s Argument... undecided

There’s nowhere I said that Nigerians “developed” Ghana or “control” Ghana. Personally, I steer clear of these childish and primordial arguments, because as an unabashed pan-Africanist I really do not care to expend any emotional or intellectual energy into these divisive primitive discussions based primarily upon what a bunch of dudes sitting around a conference table in Berlin drew up.

Meanwhile, just for the purposes of factual rectitude, I reaffirm that Nigerians have invested hundreds of millions in Ghana from GTB, Zenith, Access, UBA, etc., to the likes of Glo and Dangote, to real estate investments. However, apparently unlike you, I do not equate investment with control. Rather I considered investment to be a win-win-win situation for all concerned if properly harnessed.

Rather I considered investment to be a win-win-win situation for all concerned if properly harnessed.

you see, this is a clear example of naivety.Do you want me to list the number of South African banks, huge shoplines, beverage companies, telecommunication companies and many investments that runs into billions of dollars in Nigeria alone.I have never heard of any South African making or mentioning these points in any discussion or banter among themselves or with any Nigerian. These so called investments are purely private individuals and cooperations and benefit these individuals mostly so in no way should anybody make mention of these investments in any discussions besides it's you Nigerians who normally threaten South Africa to boycott all their giant cooperations products and services in Nigeria during such discussions buh when it gets to Ghana, you rather make mention of these private Nigerian companies presence in Ghana as a means of pride or for whatever purpose you wish to achieve thus listing these cooperations.Do I have to tell you that Glo is virtually dead and a failed network in Ghana and no matter how Dangote cement is subsidized in terms of prices in Ghana is almost out of business due to the monopoly of Ghacem cement in Ghana for decades and these Nigerian banks are mostly struggling due to the 400 million cedis minimum capital stipulated by the Bank Of Ghana(Central Bank) and most having half of their shares owned by Ghanaians.
