The Lagos State Government is at war with traffic offenders in the state and it's taking the campaign against one-way, driving on BRT lane very seriously. The RRS team arrested two men who drove against the traffic at Ikeja.

According to RRS team who took to Twitter to warn drivers of the dangers of one-way driving said, these two traffic offenders who were arrested by our officers on Patrol along Opebi Road have been transferred to Lagos State Task Force and they’ve been charged to court. The verdict, forfeiture of the vehicles to the Lagos State Government. Please obey traffic rules to avoid your car being impounded.

A closer look, however, shows that the owners are Chinese national who were arrested by
the RRS officers for driving against traffic at Opebi, He has been told to forfeit his Lexus 4WD and Sienna to Lagos State Government.

Citing the Lagos State Traffic law, the RRS team said any vehicle that drives against traffic or passes through the BRT lane has committed an offense against the state. Read the code cited as obtained by AutoReportNG

Even when you have the law that tells you the gravity of the offence you are breaking and its punishment? Why do we have laws then if we can't obey them?

Some Nigerians are just too stubborn .Simple traffic rule is too hard for them to obey.People like this are fast to point fingers at others yet cannot confine themselves to simple rules.

Well, I still see many vehicles driving one way in many areas. For instance. .Murtala Mohammed Way, Yaba, the Ijesha/Cele Okota link bridge etc

The punishment is too much in my opinion though. What will LASG do with the vehicles? Community service, jail time or heavy fine will be more reasonable.

That's not to say that I support lawlessness. Those who choose to disobey should be ready to face the music.

However there are some one way streets with no sign or signs that are not so visible which are used as trapping points by some unscrupulous officials. This should be addressed too.

We can't always obey laws, if we can we wouldn't need the police and the court.
The penalty is too severe though.

Can you drive against traffic in UK or in US without not facing the consequences? Charity they say, begins at home.

I am not against being punished for infractions but the punishment should fit the crime.
Sending people to our overcrowded jail over minor traffic offenses is insane and no civilized country will enact such laws.

Commendable effort to tackle bad driving habits by the Lagos State Government.

Also, there needs to be media campaign against hidden or obscure or nonexistent one-way signs. Otherwise some innocents might fall victim.

This penalty is not realistic. would have suggested temporary seizure of the offender's car for like 1 week.. and watch miracles happen on Lagos roads

This is what I am saying, every states, countries, localities have their traffic rules and regulations. Once you know your state has crazy law on traffic, do everything to avoid being caught. You know that LASG will seize your car if you drive against traffic then, dont do it... its as simple as ABC

This law does not make sense.

First, the root cause of some of these traffic offenses have been known to be bad roads, inadequate alternate routes, breakdown of vehicle, bad drainage during flood, tiny lanes and lack of traffic warden to coordinate traffic.

Secondly, they should have fixed these issues before pushing this law.

If there's free flow of traffic, I see no reason why someone will intentionally disobey traffic.

The governor should fix potholes, chase those trailer people and send more lastma agents to our roads. This will reduce traffic offenses
