- The governor submitted her name twice to the House of Assembly they rejected her due to a case of financial misappropriation against her still unresolved. She was in Acting capacity.

- She had a press conference that the reason why the house rejected her was because she is a Christian.

- Unable to get confirmation from the House, the Governor appointed someone else as CJ.

If he had confirmed her in January, she would have had 6 months to function. What is the big deal in having a state chief judge in office for 6 months if she is qualified to occupy the office? In Obasanjo's time, Evans Enwerem was Senate President for less than 6 months before being removed and replaced by Chuba Okadigbo who lasted less than one year. In Yar'Adua's time, Patricia Etteh was Speaker also for less than 6 months before being removed, and Dimeji Bankole replaced her.
If someone who still has many years in active service gets appointed and dies in office within 6 months, won't they be replaced?

I think a CJN had been appointed with less time to stay in office. Let me quickly confirm that.

Here is the proof:
Justice Alfa Belgore was appointed in July of 2006 even thought he was due for retirement in January of 2007. You cannot deny someone of their position due to retirement age. Even though she has a day left, she should have been confirmed to that position.

The former CJ Of Kebbi State just before this lady was a Christian and nobody complained. This lady just like Onnoghen had legal issues bordering on criminal conduct, but you want her to be CJ just because she is a Christian.

I know you would want Onnoghen to return as the country’s CJ for the same reason.

There has never been anything christianly about FFKs posts. He is always insulting people and saying many unchristianly things .
People are having intelligent discussions , yet FFK starts bringing sleeping with other people's wives into it.
Why would any sane person support his post? He's just trivialised his legitimate concerns with stupidity.
Is the Acting CJ in question denied of her position because of her faith? It's a strong possibility, and those concerns should be discussed and addressed. Was she denied because of corruption charges? Also concerning if true, but why is she still walking free if that's the case? He shouldn't trivialise the issues on ground with beer parlour gutter talk, as nobody will take him serious.
Enough of sentiments. FFK is not respected by most of his tribesmen because he behaves and speaks like a joker. The little respect he still gets is because of his late father Chief Remi Fani- Kayode- a lawyer SAN and prominent veteran south west politician (He was the Deputy Premier of the Western Region, also Deputy party chairman) who died October 1995. His grandfather was also a prominent lawyer and very wealthy.

Karatu was appointed by Bagudu on October 30, 2017, following the retirement of Bala Mairiga.

He recommended her to the state house of assembly as a replacement for Mairiga but the lawmakers were said to have refused to confirm her appointment over alleged falsification of her primary school certificate.

“This Honorable House will not clear any nominee who comes before it with altered credentials. It is now left for the government to decide on who to send as a nominee to the House,” Abdulmumin Kamba, speaker of the house, had said.

On November 14, 2018, Bagudu resubmitted Karatu’s name to the house for confirmation.

Karatu was reportedly confirmed on January 17, 2019, but the governor refused to act on the assembly’s confirmation.
Karatu is due to retire on July 5 from active service.


Note that she retires next month.
