The International Monetary Fund (IMF) yesterday reinstated its advice to Nigeria on the need to remove fossil fuel subsidy and attend to social infrastructures with the savings already generated from the scheme.

It has been the organizations impression that the country will be in a better position if the subsidy can be removed so as to be able to finance other internal developmental programs.

Speaking at the ongoing World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings in Washington DC, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde stated her opinion which she believes is in the best interest for the country.
