Lagos-badagry Expressway Causes Loss Of N1b Daily To Traders – ASPMDA by TedKing: 8:34am On Jun 20, 2019
ASPMDA - a traders' association has called on Governor Sanwo-Olu to fix the bad Lagos-Badagry expressway which makes them lose a whooping N1 billion every day! Read their explanations below!
The Auto Spare parts & Machinery Dealers’ Association (ASPMDA) has lamented over the dilapidated condition of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, stating that the poor condition of the road leads to the loss of about one billion naira to businesses in the area on a daily basis.

This was disclosed by Chief Daniel Offorkansi, president of the association, while speaking to newsmen at a press conference on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 in his office.

Offorkansi who also doubles as the Chairman of the Trade Fair Stakeholders Forum (TFSF) appealed to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to listen to the cries of both residents and traders in the area by fixing the road.

The President listed five worst sections on the expressway including Under Bridge, Alakija, Iyana-Iba, Volks and Ojo Barracks. He stated that these five areas had the worst damages and needed immediate attention.

Many trailers are scared of falling off on the road

Speaking further, Offorkansi disclosed that no fewer than four containers loaded with goods fall off due to the bad road every day. This has discouraged traders, with about 50 trucks loaded with goods meant to be transported to neighboring West-African countries prevented from moving.

“These are people’s money tied down inside loaded trailers for months due to bad road. Besides, many loaded trucks with goods worth millions of naira that are going to Northern Nigeria, East and South are all stranded at the complex because there is no road to drive after leaving the complex.

“The worst in the last couple of months is that our customers will come to buy goods, but cannot leave with their goods due to fear of falling along the road,” Offorkansi said.

According to the president, traders no longer drive their vehicles to the market due to fear of the road, and traders in the complex close for the day at 3pm to be able to walk home safely, avoiding being attacked by hoodlums in the area.
