Ex-aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, shares 36 years throwback photo in Disneyland. Gistvic Reports.

Reno said Nigerian accent is cooler than ice as it has opened several doors for him for over 36 years he has been crisscrossing the world.

He wrote:
"This is me in Disneyland on August 26, 1983. I first became resident in California at the age of 9. Yet, I still speak publicly and deliberately in my Nigerian accent. For the over 36 years that I have been crisscrossing the world, I can't count how many doors my Nigerian accent has opened for me. It stands me out from the crowd and turns heads. Why would an American consider an American accent as something interesting? They have 300 million people already using it. Ditto for the United Kingdom. No. Those guys want to hear another accent. Don't succumb to inferiority complex and change your accent to fit in. What is wrong with standing out? Be yourself. Your Nigerian accent is cooler than ice! And while you are it, don't change your Kayode to Kay or your Ikechukwu to Iyke. Teach them how to pronounce Kayode and Ikechukwu. I assure you that your uniqueness will open more doors than your feeble attempts to conform "

That's my boss, King Reno Bemigho Omokri dishing out the undiluted truth, but some silly miscreants would want to counter him and spread their stupidity online.

God bless King Reno.

Some people think speaking with american accent makes them smart and intelligent, it is good to speak fluent english but don't ever compromise that for your mother's tongue, too many wannabes in the world today.

Slay queens take note some will even form to the extent that they'll tell you they don't understand their local dialect as if they spent 10 years in America or the UK but all their lives mostly have been in the village until they moved to the city.

Depends. Some people’s Nigerian accent sound sweet, some sound horrible. Same thing with Americans or Brits. Not all sound good. Some sound horrible. I think the human ear just finds certain sounds and accents appealing. Find out what makes your voice sound best

This is so true, I remember when one of my colleagues told me that she had always wanted to tell me that she loves my accent. I was so flattered, no need changing and sounding fake in the process. #YouDoYou

This is his first sensible thing have seen him write and many here will concur with me.
Kudos to him.

Funny, I was in London around the same time too. First stayed with my aunty who was in a council flat with her 3 kids. Two were boys

I remember sleeping in the boys room. There was a bunk bed and an extra bed. I slept on the extra bed.

Both boys wet their beds and the room stunk of stale urine.

Worse, they'll change bed spaces the following night not minding sleeping on the others pee. The stench in the room was something else. Those boys wan finish me.

We (my dad and 3 other siblings) later moved from there to a detached house in Surrey. I spent only a week then as I had entrance examinations into secondary school.
