After fooling themselves for 3 years, they finally rented the building to a private hospital. Don’t deceive yourself, the hospital is privately owned, the masses can not afford it.

I actually posted this news so good Edo citizens will see what Oshiomole and Obaseki has turned Edi state into.

The university at Iyamoh was built with Edo state money but its now ran like a private university. Obaseki even appointed a foreign consultant to run a project built with our money.

There's nothing like "Benin General Hospital" in Benin. The whole of that hospital has always been Central Hospital, Benin because it's located at the heart of Benin and the probably the oldest hospital in Benin.
As per maintenance, you can be right about it because anything facility owned by Govt in Nigeria is"no man's property" in the minds of the civil servants. they 'll damage and not repair until it becomes an eye sore.

If its a SPECIALIST HOSPITAL with the equipment shown in those pictures, it means it's a referral Centre with advance modern equipment.
Considering the amount of money spent there with or without "Padding", the only way to guaranty its proper management, sustainability and recoup substantial part of the cost of building it in the next 10-20yrs is by running it as PPP, with Private counterpart to manager it. if given to civil servants like most other govt hospitals, within the next 5yrs, they ll waste it carelessly. The Senr. Consultants and CMD will auction of the equipment to one another one by one until its all bare.
So, dont expect it to be managed like other govt hospitals or for free or cheap, the staff with steal the funds and won't maintain it either.

Look at BENDEL BREWERY, the Military gave it to CHURCH GATE GROUP to manage after years of abandonment, CHURCH GATE revived it and got it running in 1990s, only for LUCKY IGBINEDION to interfere and grab it from the company operating it without looking at the subsisting agreement the govt had with the company.
CHURCH GATE went to court and the company has been crippled for almost 20yrs now because the case in court. Oshiomhole couldn't sort it out and Obaseki has not been able to either until its decided in court which might involve Edo Govt compensating the company to an amount the govt is finding hard to handle before anything can happen there.

I work in health care in the UAE, all the govt hospitals and health centres have been privatized and runned as PPP for a few years now. They are all world class, JCIA Certified. The only reason all Govt hospitals in Nigeria can not be privatized yet is because it can easily be hijact by our Political Physicians without consideration for the generality of Nigerians just as the Health insurance scheme has become and until a proper framework is put in place.
