This overrated slum

Still don't know why some morons will ever compare Abuja with this slum

Even by land mass the place is just like one local government in Edo state
I wasn't aware of this until i paid Abuja a visit last year
Edo north alone was like forever. Too big
Lagos and Abuja are not mate, Abuja might be beautiful and serene and has larger land mass but when it comes to economic potentials, Lagos is the engine room and heart beat of Nigeria. If it stops breathing Nigeria will die immediately. It is unfortunate that a country that is so much blessed like Nigeria will have business and job opportunities concentrated in one place.

G1STMORE:
Residents flee from their houses in the early hours of Thursday as pipeline along Ijegun axis of Satellite town was gutted by inferno.

There is still contemplation on the main cause of the inferno as fire fighter from the terminal just arrived at the scene, trying to extinguish the fire.

Satellite Town, Lagos is a community and state housing estate located along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Amuwo-Odofin local government area of Lagos State.

The community has about 12 tank farms operating in the community, some of which are A.A. RANO, Emadeb Energy, Wosbab, Chipet Nig. Ltd., Star Oil and Gas and Bond Global Energy Ltd. “Others are Mao Petroleum Company, Stallionaire Nig. Ltd., First Deep Water, Menj Oil and Ocean Pride Oil.

It has been alleged that all the tank farms did not have a fire-fighting boat in case of fire in their depots.

Meanwhile, Ibassa Ijegun-Egba Youth Association in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State had pleaded with the state government to remove tank farms from the community, due to incessant fire incidents at the tank farms.

The association’s reaction came against the backdrop of the fire incident that razed an oil tank farm belonging to Stallionaire Oil at Ijegun, Satellite town, Lagos State. As at the time of the report, the fire is yet to be extinguished.

I live very close to the exact spot where the fire incident broke out. This fire started around 2AM in the morning and it occurred when one of the pipeline vandals who was on fire ran to the tanker they had already loaded and asked the driver to open the door for him, so that he wouldn't be lynched by the local vigilantes who were hot on his heels. The fuel in the loaded tanker was attracted to the flames on the guys body and that was how the tanker exploded.

State security operatives even assist these vandals. And they are protected by prominent persons in the community who expect "royalty" to be paid to them. Wicked people shall never know peace!

Now, around that area, which is called Fire Junction (in memory of the previous fire that occurred in that area circa 2008) there's a junkyard where roadside mechanics ply their trade and incidentally, one of the pipeline valves that was sabotaged by those vandals exists there. It was open for their oil-theft business that same morning. The flames from the burning tanker which were carried by fuel eventually moved to that point and all hell went loose. That was when people noticed that something was out of hand. The thunderous booms from the explosion rocked the very ground. We were lucky that cooking gas plant was not affected. If it was, we would have gas cylinders flying like missiles and causing more havoc.

When firefighters were trying to put off the flame, some of the mechanics who know the exact point where the pipeline in their open workshop is exposed tried to hide it from the firefighters but residents who saw it alerted them. The area boys were asked by some evil men to chase people in close proximity to that exposed pipeline point but it was already too late.

Although the firefighters came late (most of the fire stations don't run shifts and most residents called them from around some minutes to 3AM that morning only for them to arrive by to 7!), I commend them for their efforts. Truly, they tried.

To those that support, benefit or encourage illegal oil theft; your days shall never be long, you shall know no peace, your paymasters shall kill themselves and you as well, and as you have declared by your actions to endanger the lives of innocent people during unholy hours of the day, every step you take and every breath you breathe draw you closer to a horrible end where people will clearly see that the wrath of God descended on you.
