Abuja – Another round of drama is imminent in the House of Representatives as factional leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Caucus, Kingsley Chinda (Rivers) has occupied the seat meant for the Minority Leader.

Recall that, the House Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila on Wednesday announced Ndudi Elumelu (PDP, Delta) as the House Minority Leader as against a list said to have been sent in by the opposition PDP.

Chinda’s group had protested the announcement by the speaker, accusing him of plotting to undermine opposition parties by foisting leaders on them.

But both Gbajabiamila and the Elumelu faction contended that the announcement was in line with Order 7 Rule 8, 12 and 14 which deal with matters of ranking and the rights of all minority parties to produce principal officers and not a particular party as the PDP had done.

But Chinda’s group on Thursday has taken positions in the front row meant for principal officers from minority parties with the support of members such as Tajudeen Yusuf from Kogi and Sergius Ogun from Edo.

Chinda is being joined by Muraina Ajibola (PDP, Oyo) who was purportedly picked by the party to be deputy minority Whip and two other unknown faces.

It remains to be seen what will happen when the speaker comes into the chamber, accompanied by Elumelu and his fellow announced minority principal officers, as the probable thing would be to ask Chinda and his group to vacate the seats.

Why would PDP dictate the officers for all the minority parties, or you think only PDP is the minority party?

The minority parties have chosen their leadership, PDP should stop the arrogance.

Ahmed quietly accepted the names from the party in senate so why did Femi claim he didn't get the mail ..only to further say he can't accept letters from a party that didn't support him..according to PDP publicity sec..so after gaining support from the PDP governors. .he now turns back to treachery. .that's a wrong way to start. .

I think the argument is that elumelu is a product of all the minority parties while chinda is of the PDP alone. For me, since rivers has secondus as chair they should allow delta take this one.

This one wants to chop 6months suspension.

I said this in one other topic like that, Gbaja is a good Legislator but he lacks the temperament and emotional intelligence to be Speaker. He is going to cause many confusions and in fighting before the party shoos him away.

Do you know PDP is not the only minority party in the house? PDP alone can't dictate who the minority leader will be.

Chinda is from Rivers state like Uche Secondus or whatever he is called, Elumelu from Delta is more of a ranking rep than him

PDP is NOT the only minority party and such silly arrogance will not be acceptable. The earlier the party understand it place in the National Assembly the better. There is no more Saraki or Dogara to undermine the ruling party and for PDP to use as willing collaborators
