n Thursday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), released the seeding for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying draw, to be made in Cairo on July 18.

Pot 1: Senegal, Tunisia, Nigeria, Morocco, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Cameroon (hosts), Egypt, Burkina Faso, Mali, Ivory Coast, Algeria

Pot 2: Guinea, South Africa, Cape Verde, Uganda, Zambia, Benin, Gabon, Congo Brazzaville, Mauritania, Niger, Kenya, Libya

Pot 3: Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Central African Republic, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Angola, Malawi, Togo, Sudan, Tanzania

Pot 4: Burundi, Rwanda, Equatorial Guinea, eSwatini (formerly Swaziland), Lesotho, Botswana, Comoros, Ethiopia and four preliminary-round winners

Pot 5: Liberia, Mauritius, Gambia, South Sudan, Chad, Sao Tome e Principe, Seychelles, Djibouti

Did not enter: Eritrea, Somalia

Stage 1: The eight pot 5 teams will be drawn into four pairings and the winners of the two-leg ties advance to stage 2 as part of pot 4

Stage 2: There will be 12 groups comprised of one team from pots 1-4 and the section winners and runners-up qualify for the finals. Hosts Cameroon are guaranteed a place, so only one other team qualify from their group.

Perhaps CAF is taking a precautionary step if Cameroon doesn’t meet up with the preparation for the hosting and strip of the hosting right.

The Cameroonians need those games for CAF and FIFA rankings (I think).

Its Fifa's new rule in ensuring that the host country of any of its tournament and or those of its affiliates, participates in qualifiers to ensure they're not match rusty during the tournament itself. If you notice, most host countries perform poorly in tournaments.

The host's performance during the qualifier does not affect the number of teams to qualify since they already qualified as host country.

It´s time this competition is done every 4 years and not 2. That way it will be taken more seriously especially by countries and players alike. Because these players knows they will be back in 2 years time, they hardly give their best. if it´s a 4 year thing, 80% of the players will end up playing only 1 competition and will be ready to die for country to win it.

What CAF need to do is encourage other competitions like WAFU in West and what other competitions the other regions have. Imagine a competition where the WAFU winner and the winner from the South, East and North participate in a 4 country finals each year.

You people should better improve the quality of competitive matches in Africa. This year AFCON is a shame
