They got kickbacks from oil deals they supervised, which is still 1,000 times better than those that steal outright from government purse, like our governors, senators and presidents etc But on the other hand, our entire civil service from president to janitor is a shithole. |

T0 matter may elicit a chuckle BUT it points to a very serious matter: massive youth unemployment. I doubt if this guy can pay each aide more than 50k monthly out of pocket out of pocket. Also he will probably spend his constituency project allocations on his bloated staff. So 4 years from now, his constituents will be hardly better off. He's not alone though. Those without bloated aides sponsor weddings, pay hospital bills, school fees and generally "dash" sums of money to constituents. With such a way of spending money, both looting and poor performance are inevitable. 2 Likes |

iammo: Even as cash inflow, how did a public servant come about N2.2b turnover. The tittle might have been exaggerated but it's disturbing people could be so greedy. The major problem is the accountability of the recoveries. There is high tendency it will be "relooted". What happens in public service in Nigeria seems to have gone beyond redemption. 2 Likes |

MobilityExpress: Listen, those are the people eating the subsidy money! No difference from direct stealing, because a company/individual that pays such huge kickbacks will pass it onto endusers as an operating cost, or outrightly refuse to perform their service obligations. This is the same reason why some communities have no roads at all and social services are nonexistent - some civil servant somewhere has taken money from the contractors, so the job never gets done. 1 Like |

When they want to steal, there is no tribe or religion, but when they want to divide the poor people and cause confusion in the land, they begin to talk about religion and ethnicity. The masses are the real problem of Nigeria, gullibility is on the high side. So sad. 3 Likes |

You lots arguing about tribe and religion, you see corruption has no face,no tribe,no religion, they all connive to steal, but you lots down the food chain and the suffering masses are left arguing whose tribe thief is better, and why he should be left alone,or whose party thief is being persecuted! If this were to be yahoo yahoo boys I'm sure they would have been paraded for the whole world to see. I keep saying it if the federal government wants to really fight corruption, they should first start with both the federal and state civil service. The civil service is known to have corrupt individuals working under it, and they don't even care to hide it because they believe nothing can happen to them. Let the federal government ease up with the way they are using the arrest of yahoo boys to deceive themselves that they're fighting corruption. |
