Manchester United legend, Patrice Evra, who was one of the best left-backs in Premier League history, has announced his retirement from football at the age of 38.

Evra enjoyed a brilliant career at Manchester United, where he won 10 major trophies. Heannounced his retirement on Monday, July 29, 2019.

"My playing career is officially over," the 38-year-old told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I started training for the UEFA B Coaching Licence in 2013, now I want to finish it and then go on to get the UEFA A licence.

"In a year and a half, if everything goes well, I’ll be ready to lead a team."

Evra, who joined Manchester United in 2006 from Monaco, went on to make 379 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and adding 40 assists, and won five Premier Leagues, four Community Shields, three League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup and of course the Champions League.


He also joined Juventus in 2014, where he won three Serie A titles and two Coppa Italias. Evra also enjoyed 10-month spell at Marseille before making a brief return to the Premier League with West Ham in 2018.
