I want to buy a car in the near future and I am turn between an Avalon and a Corolla 2007. Based on my price review on Jiji, both vehicle are within the same price range of N1.8million - N2.2million for foreign use depending on condition and seller.

I'll like to ask Nairalanders who have experience using any of these cars to advice which will be better for a personal user with no plans for long distance travel or ride hailing.

My key concern is aroung.
1. Cost of servicing
2. Repairs and maintenance.
3. Fuel consumption
4. Overall driving experience.

Why not buy directly from US or Canada using auction export?

Avalon is better but I think Corolla will fit Naija terrain better. Avalon is more luxurious than Corolla.Avalon driving experience is close to Lexus cos they share common Engine. Remember,Avalon is 6 Engines, so it burns fuel faster, Corolla is fuel effective.
I use Avalon and I love the experience so much . it does not give me headache.

You better go for TOYOTA COROLLA jejelly, because when you get to Ladipo to buy spare parts and tell them you are buying ordinary brake pard for Avalon,eehnn,the money go reach you buy other servicing part join for Corolla and all Corolla na four cylinder while Avalon na v6 that's the fuel consumption difference.

You should not campare. Avalon is a luxury(Executive) car. Most times limited with everything coming as full options, while corola is an economy class car. For average living guys. Make your choice.

My frank advice.
Avalon is way higher up d ladder brand when compared to corolla. You cant compere d drive and comfy of avalon to a corolla. all avalon is v6 engine so d fuel is higher. But u you want something simple and cost effective with a super resale value , bros na corolla oh

Avalaon is a big man car. Corolla is a regular guy car. Are you ready for the wahala that comes with big man cars?

In traffic robbers will come for you first. Ditto for police etal, they will stop you first.

Of course I am assuming you are not a big man. The avalon will look better for business meetings. It says owner while the corolla says officer.

And of course its maintenance will be more.
On the dark side, corolla. A commu ity property so if you park it anywhere it can get vandalised.

Going by your concerns, corolla is the best. I think avalon na for old papa.

You can't compare the two, Avalon is high end above Camry and Corolla is low end economy below Camry, so make you choice looking at your pocket and statue in society

Bro in as much as Corolla is more fuel efficient, I would advise against it except you have very sound security in your area as you will have vandals to contest with. They crave for it's brainbox and power window engine.

Why not Canada Used cars? Are there any issues with them ?

I have a very clean registered 2006 Toyota corolla for sale and I think it's the best for you cause Corolla cars are so fuel efficient

But both are Toyota which is generally known for durability so you can make a choice...
P:S... All Corollas are 4 plugs(V4) while all Avalons are 6 plugs (V6)

I do not like to see people say Corollas are "V4"...

It is an I4, as I have never seen a "4-cylinder Corolla" with a V engine configuration.
