Some of u have really short memories or let me say deliberate amnesia. Was it a fulani government that deployed soldiers during occupy Nigeria, was it a Fulani Government that deployed soldiers nationwide to sieze newspapers and invade newsmedia houses? Weather fulanuli, yoruba or igbo government, will the government sit and watch someone threaten a rovolution? Stick to the topic and stop all these childish rants.

Unfortunately this does not answer the question
these are just the birth signs.
it seems you are military hence your signature.
the revolution is just a matter of time.
Nigeria has failed.
imagine we can't put down boko haram up to like 13 years now.
infact the Nigeria state will be happy to if boko will accept amnesty but boko knew they are stronger and feared so why settle for less.
since abacha left we have never won or put down any confrontation.
sowore is arrested because he made it known.
but the fire that will refine this dirty gold called Nigeria will be lit by the most dangerous army ever seen.
the poor Nigerians.
it will be free for all.
since the government wants to kill the middle class.
the middle class will join the poor class and the result will be catastrophic .
any attempt to cut down the expectations of ambitious people will have consequences
remember where lofty heights attain.

You still dont get it. We are in a democracy. People should be allowed to say whatever they like. What matters is what people do. You cannot charge a person to court for 'talking'. If Sowore likes, he can protest that he wants Buhari to step down. If Sowore likes , he can protest that he wants Snow to fall in Lagos. The constitution has given him the right to protest for whatever reason. The constitution has also given him the right of free speech as long as what he says is not being used to commit crime. If the authorities have any evidence that Sowore wants to use the protest to fo something unlawful, then they should arrest and charge him to court

But if the authorities arrested him because he mentioned the word 'revolution' or that he said he wants 'bundle Buhari out of office' then this arresting a man for merely talking.

If governments start going after people for what they said, as opposed to what they do, then it is no longer democracy, it is dictatorship.

If you cannot understand all this and still insist that the government is right to go after Sowore because of the words he used then it means you dont understand democracy and how it works

Stop shouting democracy all over the place because many of you don't know democracy and what it stands for.

Revolution and forcibly overthrowing a democratically elected government is not democracy, it's sedition and civilian coup

This is what they say about revolution and the punishment for revolution in America, the land of democracy.

Don't let ignorance and devious people lead you to prison while hiding under democracy, it's not democracy, revolution is a criminal offense with serious repercussions.

Funny enough before the arrest, people were shouting revolution all over the place, but after the arrest, they switched and change their chants to peaceful protest.

Who are you deceiving?

Oga you still don't understand despite repeated inatances. Shows you are not seeking to learn but are set in a position, obviously pro government but one thing you and the government of the day must understand about the democracy it pretends it practice is:

One, power ultimately lies with the people so a revolution is not against one person or group of persons. It is a recalibration of the system the people themselves put in place. Those in government are merely temporary custodians of the power to organise society in favovour of the ideals ofthe people, no more. If the people wish to change those ideals so be it. We must in that light discard all feudal thoughts about the people we put there. The authority they wield is given by the people.

What a proper government should do to prevent things degenerating to this level of incivility is to practice the tenets of democracy which starts with pluralism, the ability to permit alternate power bases and tap into their vibes to stabilise the polity and cou try in ge eral. That means allowing free expression, allowing diverse expression and allowing rigorous debates while being keen to respond to the desires and wishes of the generality of people.

It is natural for hot air to rise and cool air replaces and mixes in causing wind. It is natural for heated ocean water to mix with cooler ocean water to trigger precipitation. It is natural for fresh precipitates to mix with salty ocean water to stimulate ocean current and keep the earth's electrical battery constantly charged. It is natural for the people and government to mix their views to move democracy forward but when government decides to block all avenues and stymie all the vents of democracy an earthquake of volcanic proportions is inevitable.

This without doubt has been the most intolerant democratically elected government since independence. It has gone through great lengths to shutdown the other two arms of government, destabilise opposing political parties and truncate all institutions of adjudication. For how long you expect this to continue without a response remains a mystery to me but any half intelligent citizen would know that trouble is brewing. Add to this fact that it is not remotely a performing government to assuage any section of its citizens...

Sir, do u watch any non NTA TV station?
if yes, u might have heard of Trump, and his Rivals, they've called him all they can, many have protested, called for his impeachment (bundle him out can also mean impeachment.) some dems have even called for secession.
Same in France, UK etc, but when it comes to Nigeria, u guys will always find good excuses for Buhari.

If you have any family in the USA. I dare you to tweet that they are going to bomb the White House. Let's see if the FBI wont Knock on their doors before sunset. Freedom of speech does not cover threat against a whole government. Calling for revolution is not covered by freedom of speech. Revolution is war!

How does this relate to this thread. In all ur rambling i did not see anyone call for revolution against the US government. There have also been several calls for Buhari's impeachment, PDP have attacked several times, we have seen FFK, RENO on the social media....have any of them been picked up. Make noise on the internet that u want to start a revolution protest in the states and see if CIA or FBI will not pick u up

like CIA or FBI picked up the communist party of America abi? whose ideology is to cause a revolution that will transform the US to a communist state.

like they picked up the NAACP abi

like they picked up white supremacists groups who aim to change racial laws abi

like they picked up Lois Farrakhan and his nation of Islam who aim to implement sharia abi

like they picked up all lobbying groups who try to shape America to their own desires abi

You are of course allowed to express yourself and debate any issue you so desire, but expressing yourself and debating issues are different from staging, promoting and inciting revolution to overthrow a democratically elected government.

Criminal acts and peaceful protest are 2 different things.

If democracy is really what you are all about, then go to the polls with your votes to effect change in leadership instead of revolution to overthrow an elected government that the Nigerian majority put in office.

You can not subvert the choice of the majority with your own selfish wishes and what you failed to achieve at the polls because of lack of popular support.

Democracy is one way and you can not subvert democracy because you failed at the polls.

You mean incitement is not a crime?

Incitement is a crime only if a crime was carried out. In this case however, Sowore did not incite anyone to commit any crime. He only asked people to come out in protest which he has a right to do. The only problem some ignorant people have is that he called his protest a 'revolution'

Bros Tuface called for a million man march against this particular govt which is d same thing as protest. Am glad u said

So d issue isn't about d word REVOLUTION because if it was and based on what u said, then Tufaces planned protest shouldn't have been stopped.

Then 2d Shiite issue u said

Which means d Shiites were well within their rights to protest. And if that was d case, y were d police shooting live ammunition at them? If they didn't ask 4 revolution but 4d release of their leader, then y did d govt clamp down on them? So once again, is this about d choice of words or this govts intolerance for dissent and protests under any guise?

So based on d above, what is d truth? Arent u d one now shying away from d truth?

Let me first let you know am a Christian and is not like am backing Shiite for anything but am just trying to state the obvious. Like I said earlier Nigerian Police are not well trained in handling riot-related issues. I blamed the Nigerian Police for that Shiite incident. I for one did not see in any video the Shiite guys holding any weapon. I believe we don't know the true story about what really went down. Am against this government also but sometimes we have to use the right words so they won't hold on that as an excuse. There excuse about this protest is justifiable even under our Nigerian constitution. No government will allow a revolution to move against them and also using Days of Rage and also. And also coming from a Presidential Aspirant that just lost the election. How would we all feel if Atiku says he is leading a protest of revolution and asking for a new Nigeria. Is not just coming from a normal Nigerian citizen but a recent presidential Aspirant. Sowore should have known better except if he has other plans that we all don't know about. I really don't trust all these guys like that. We will be shocked to know he is even working with APC. Just a suspicion.

The fact that he was arrested because he mentioned revolution speaks volume.

Revolution is WAR against a government. He should have said protest and no one will mind. Calling for revolution publicly is a bad vibe. Now the government is on alert, and they understand its war, so dont blame them for trying to war early.

Revolution is not an easy thing. It means war. So why would someone call for war publicly. I am in full support of revolution, but we are not ready

The oxford dictionary defines revolution as~

1)The forcible overthrow of a government

2)The change of a social order in favour of a new system

3) An instance of revolving

Buhari supporters chose the first definition of revolution as the only definition when everyone knows that Sowore called for a protest for the second definition
Re: Will Any Government In The World Sit And Watch A "Revolution" Protest? by therealpeace: 3:44pm On Aug 04, 2019

Revolution definition from 2 different dictionaries;

1. rev·o·lu·tion

a forcible overthrow of a government or social order, in favor of a new system.

synonyms: rebellion, revolt, insurrection, mutiny, uprising, riot, rioting, rising, insurgence, insurgency, coup, overthrow, seizure of power, regime change;

2. : a sudden, radical, or complete change
a fundamental change in political organization

especially : the overthrow or renunciation of one government or ruler and the substitution of another by the governed

While I am strongly in support of freedom of speech and association, I really don't think any government in the world wouldn't act on organizers of a protest which have been widely publicised as a "REVOLUTION" protest.

In my PERSONAL opinion, a better adjective or word should have been used for the so called protest.

Occupy Nigeria is a good example
The 2 face 1 million march which he later called off is another.

Whats your take?

This is coming on the heels of the purported arrest of Sowere.

This is another definition you omitted "a dramatic and wide-reaching change in the way something works or is organized or in people's ideas about it"

Do you think that second definition would happen without the first one?

Which government would want you to change them without a fight. I understand that sowore meant protest. But calling it revolution is the wrong move. Any government would wanna cap any revolution movement before it grows into something they cant control.
