Pablo Escobar is one man whose name can never be omitted in the history books of crime. Pablo Escobar, a Colombian drug lord, was a son of a farmer before he became the most successful criminal on earth. During his days, he was responsible for about 80% of all cocaine purchased around the entire world, he made the substance reach places no one else could. He was the leader of Medellin Cartel and his drug empire was bigger than his country's government. With a net worth of $30 billion, Escobar was the wealthiest man on earth during his time. On today's History Files, we sum up the life of Pablo Escobar with 10 facts about him.

1) In 1980's Escobar offered to pay off his country's total debt of 15 million dollars only if he would be given immunity. Colombian government, however, rejected the offer even though they needed it.

2) Escobar was responsible for the death of over 4,000 people which included a minister of justuce, more than 200 judges and more than 1,000 policemen.

3) He was also a philanthropist. He built stadiums, schools, hospitals and churches for the poor. Average Colombians loved him because of his charitable works and they nicknamed him 'Robin Hood.'

4) Escobar spent around $2,500 (N900,000) every month on rubber bands to hold all his money.

5) He encountered difficulties transporting loads of cash he made each day. To solve this problem, he bought Learjet to hold up to 100 million dollars. Because he couldn't store his cash in the bank, he lost 2.1 billion dollars each year due to rats eating it and water damage.

6) While his family was on the run, his daughter became hypothermatic, to keep his daughter warm, Escobar burned 2 million dollars.

7) Escobar smuggled about 15 tons of cocaine per day by stashing the cocaine into old plane tires. Sometimes, he soaked cloths with liquid cocaine and extracted it later.
He paid around 500,000 dollars to pilots per day to transport his cocaine. At a point, he started smuggling with a remote-controlled submarine.

9) In 1991, Escobar offered to turn himself in to the authorities only if he would be allowed to build his own prison. The Colombian officials agreed and Escobar built a luxurious prison which he named 'The Cathedral'. The prison had a soccer field, a nightclub, a casino, a waterfall, computers and telephones.

10) While serving jail term at 'his prison,' Escobar killed two of his fellow inmates and the prison officials decided to move him to another prison. He broke out of jail before he could be transfered in 1991. The Colombian government in collaboration with the U.S. officials launched a manhunt. In December 1993, his hide out was discovered and Colombian forces stormed the building few days after he celebrated his 44th birthday. He was fatally shot while trying to escape through the roof. Many poor people he helped when he was alive mourned his death. About 25,000 people were present for his burial.

The only Escobar that doesn't score own goal...

A quick note. No society has been ruled by crime free men. The society has always been controlled by criminal minded men since time immemorial. Forget what you are being taught in mosques and churches. Check out Moses, Musa, Daud, David, Solomon and others. It will widen your sense.
Wait! Don't even go far! Check out your political class..
Last last it's a good world to game... Try not to lose tho

Escobar was a bastard that shouldn't be remembered, his sicarios executed over 3,500 people including senators, ministers etc in Colombia, this bastard used bombs to kill relatives of rivals, he wasn't a philanthropist but a politician that felt he could buy votes with his useless blood money. His only son doesn't even bear his name undecided

Columbia would have been a world power if America allowed this man to be president. Columbia would have been a narco state just as Russia, North Korea and USA are nuclear States.
Had it been that Pablo was living in present day Russia, China or North Korea, he would have been the second most powerful man in the country after the president and USA would never dare chase and kill him. Columbia fuccked up
All those deaths and terrorism happened when their government teamed up with USA to fucck him over, he wasn't going down without a fight

cry

After everything his children had to change their surname.

His wife and kids had to run to another country to live and work in without a penny of his blood money to their name.

His kids are still apologising to the families he offended till today.

What an inheritance to leave for your kids

Really?

Pablo had "dirty" money he made from destroying thousands of lives with drugs and brutally ending thousands of others in the process and you think Columbia stood a chance with that?

Politicians are dirty, alright, the nuclear power countries you listed had/have "legit" reasons for proliferating and stockpiling such weapons.

You can't say the same for Pablo, can you?

60% of the money in the world is dirty. Facebook and Google sell your private info to companies without your permission. A huge part of the money that flow into Russia is from illegal arm deals. USA, Russia and North manufacture and store nuclear technologies to hold power status. USA through CIA Fund terrorist groups to disorganise some countries and install stooges. The world is far dirtier than you know thats why Africa will remain backward we don't know how the world work.
Majority of the dirty money our politicians steal are used to develop UK and other big big countries. They never turn those money down because they know how the world work

Our assertions are similar. Read my comment again. But try to notice how I used the quotation marks ( " " ) on some words.

P. S

I'd appreciate links to your first paragraph. (You sound so sure)

Yeah, I do. Funny thing is, I had it on my PC for over a year but never watched it until I felt I've "run out of movies" two - three weeks ago and I decided to watch it.

It was worth the almost two hours I spent on it.

Who is innocent in this life? What's ur definition of "innocence"?
In my humble opinion, nobody is innocent. The "acclaimed innocent" person is one who do not have an opportunity to do something else just yet.
