Please the governor got it wrong on this one. Cave should not be destroyed, such sites should be preserved and put to tourist use

What kind of illiterate and archaic people do we have in our governments? Aren't there any sound, intellectual candidates these political parties can present? Why do they always nominate people with outdated stupidity?
As if destroying natural caves that could serve as a tourist attraction wasn't bad enough, he's talking about clearing flora in an era where the rest of the world is talking about going green. How did we go from Sullivan to this nincompoop?

Caves?
Your excellency, caves are natural edifices; please don't destroy them.
Kidnapping is one of the easiest crimes to stop. Money, calls and movement can be easily traced in todays world; its easy. Kidnapping is no longer an occurrence in many sane societies.

Catch a few of these kidnappers, put them on trial and execute them if found guilty. NOTE: not one kidnapper has been executed despite the evil they do.

Then put in place 21st century standard police work.

I am equally surprise to hear about demolition of caves as a measure. Aren't they using mobile phones to make calls?

Haaaaa! Nigerian leaders and low IQ be like 5 and 6. So destroying those natural caves will suddenly remove all criminals from that state?

When other people are trying as much as possible to preserve their nature leftovers, we are ordering immediate demolitions. Our brain is bankrupt and devoid of ideas

Good Governance. We wish other state Governors in Nigeria can do this as well. In so doing, kidnapping and robbery will be a thing of the past.....gradually.

This is double tragedy. You don't destroy natural beauties of our environment to fight crime. The caves, too, deserve protection. Nigeria is cursed with visionless leaders; East, West, North and South.

Hey!!! Hey!!! Hey!!! cry cry cry
Who did this to us?

A beautiful natural resource that should be preserved at all costs.
What is wrong with this man and what kind of advisers does he have?

I am baffled beyond words that anyone who has any form of education can think of this option as a solution.

You have to marvel at how daft our rulers truly are. In fact Guinness should give Nigerian rulers world records for being the most stupidest rulers in modern history.
You destroy your natural heritage because of temporary threat of marauders? Are there no better ways of dealing with the threat?
Methinks drones and sensors should do the trick.

My sentiments too!

They had better not touch any caves in Enugu that have probably existed for thousands of years! Just look at how nice and relaxing that place they're walking through looks!

They should do whatever they wanna do, but they shouldn't touch any caves or upset the natural flora and fauna of the place!

Shouldn't stop there.

Find locals with money and allow them bulldoze those lands and build companies there where your state people can work. Start issuing free lands to all young men from your state.

Dash hectares of land like groundnuts, best students from all courses in all your tertiary institutions should get 2 plots free.

Give CofO to everyone who asks. That way, your state will be free of all those herdsmen hiding in forests.

Free lands to anyone that ask, may be your family property be given to someone freely

Hi

Security: Gov. Ugwuanyi orders immediate demolition of caves in Agwu forests, bush clearing around Umuogbua Ihe tunnel

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, today, visited the Umuogbua Ihe tunnel along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway by Awgu Local Government Area, which serves as a hide-out and escape route for kidnappers operating in the area.

Gov. Ugwuanyi also visited the Ihe-Agbogugu-Ogbaku-Amurri and Isu-Awaa-Agbudu forests in the same local government area, ordering the immediate demolition of Agbogugu and Isu-Awaa-Agbudu caves to enhance the security of the areas.

The governor equally inspected the ongoing construction of a military base along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway by Umuogbua Ihe, Awgu LGA and further directed that the bushes around the tunnel/kidnappers' den should be cleared immediately.

Gov. Ugwuanyi who was taken round the locations by the Chairman of Awgu LGA, Hon. Stanley Okeke, members representing Awgu North and South state constituencies, Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh and Hon. Johnson Chukwuobasi, respectively, and other stakeholders of the council, disclosed that a joint security patrol team will commence an extensive surveillance of the affected areas to ensure maximum security and strict compliance with the directives.

Enugu State is truly in the hands of God. #amokelouis

The EFCC prefers to chase after yahoo boys, rather than face the more pressing task of truncating the money laundering aspects of kidnapping. I mean how come ransoms are paid in millions - in cash - on a daily basis yet nobody is tracing how such monies are transported and laundered? Kidnapping would gradually become unattractive if it is difficult to receive and launder ransoms.

Law enforcement is not a tea party. I hate how these fools prefer to do the soft tasks (chasing internet scammers, harassing harmless civilians) rather than focus on the really tough problems that threaten the safety and wellbeing of the majority of Nigerians.
Re: Gov Ugwuanyi Orders Demolition Of Caves Serving As Hideouts In Agwu Forests by Halo22: 11:37am On Aug 13, 2019
The problem is not just about destroying the caves and huts, there are more things to be done. What if the kidnappers relocate to more interior areas nko? Strict local security is a good measure to be taken. However, thanks to the Governor for at least showing concern.

If only Ugwuanyi's media warriors who created this thread and started commenting, good move, good move know that they can not back an unintelligent idea online, they wouldn't have done this disservice to their foolish oga.

Send him back the message from NL, tell him we said its most foolish of him to conceive the idea of destroying a natural cave that saved our people during the civil war.

Tell him it's a tourist site and he should think of better ways to curb terrorism.
Fist of all, he should stop his romance, with the Hausa/Fulani.
He should speak tough against open grazing.
He should support agriculture so that youths can make good use of the fallow forests.

He can also consult us for free for ideas on good governance.
