Shell has once again pushed back the bidding schedule for its challenging $10 billion Bonga South West-Aparo project off Nigeria

Technical and commercial bids for the 150,000 barrels per day floating production, storage and offloading vessel were due to be submitted at the end of last month. It is understood that the bidders were granted six more weeks – until mid-September – to send in their prices to the supermajor and also resolve local content issues.

This follows an earlier two-month extension to the bid process. Shell is said to be targeting a final investment decision on BSWA next year, with first oil flowing in 2023 or 2024. The 800 million-barrel field straddles Shell-controlled OML 118 and Chevron-operated OMLs 132 and 140, where the structure is known as Aparo.
