Babatunde Fowler, the chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has said the country’s economic potentials are still very weak, despite having exited recession since late 2016.

Fowler was responding to a query issued to him by the chief of staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, on the poor revenue from tax collections under his leadership at FIRS.

In the letter dated August 8, 2019, Kyari gave Fowler up till August 19 to explain the reasons “for the poor collections”.

This govt has taxed Nigerians like no other and given the high inflation rate, increased cost of goods and services plus higher vat regime, there is no way he can claim that he only generated an extra 230billion compared to Jonathan.
