Someone that studied English and Linguistics to head our petroleum sectors and tomorrow we would expect magic from him.
We like force fitting square pegs in a round hole.

Let's thank God that Buhari has put Niger Deltans into strategic ministry in the country . So if Akpabio and co can't reposition the ministry of Niger Delta ,we should not blame Buhari but the man and his brother .If Silva can't do wonders in his new ministry we should blame him and not anybody . Rotimi Amwachi has started good work in transport ministry ,we expect him to consolidate .Trust Toyin Saraki will do her best to prove her worth in the ministry also . If she plays well they are grooming her for something greater in the nation. Congrats to all the appointed ministers

So buhari had to pick a man that EFCC hunted over corrupt practices?
Is that what you call brothers of Niger Delta?

Ministers are just fiqure heads that rely on the competencies of the technocrats in the ministries they head.

Timipre Silva has the experience and knows the intricacies in the Ministry of Petroluem having been a Special Adviser to King Edward Dakuro when he was the Minister of Petroleum during OBJ's era.

If the Minister is CLUELESS of the sector...
How does he know if/when the technocrats are giving him sound advice?! shocked

You seem not to have read the second paragragh.

Do you know Ministers beyond depending on the expertise of the technocrats in the ministry also rely on the judgement of their SA's. Every Minister is entitled to 3 SA's. One of the Special Advisers must be one who possess the expertise as it partains to the working of the Ministry.

And like I did state earlier, Ministers are just figure head. The Minister cannot unilaterally take decision without recourse to his Perm Sec and his Directors. The civil servants are the engine room of every ministries.

Let's not belabor the point...
But a Minister is NOT a mere ceremonial position.

Ministers are supposed to formulate POLICY...
And a clueless Minister is a LIABILITY in that respect.

Nobody really expects anything fantastic from these characters running the country.
It will really be a miracle to see them perform.
One thing certain is, they can talk the work, and not work the talk.

I completely disagree with you on this. It is the President who is figure head that should rely on the competencies of his ministers thus his ministers must be technocrats and specialist in their respective ministries. What's the essence of appointing them as ministers in the first place if they are to rely on the competencies of the technocrats, the President for kukuma work directly with the technocrats instead of wasting our resources paying salaries of incompetent ministers that rely on the competencies of their staff
