The two-day presidential retreat hosted by President Muhammadu Buhari came to an end on Tuesday, August 20, with a charge from the president to the ministers-designate to rise to the challenging responsibilities of ministerial office.

The second and final day of the retreat kicked off with a presentation on Cabinet Processes and Procedures by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.

This was followed by a presentation by the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, on aligning government policies with the ideology, manifesto and campaign promises of the ruling party.

Subsequent presentations touched on budgeting, civil service reforms, public procurement, the relationships among ministers and permanent secretaries, and effective partnerships between executive, legislature and state governments.

President Buhari in his closing remarks at the retreat reminded participants that the challenges ahead of the administration remained significant and urged them to work in collaboration.

The ministers-designate would be sworn in today, Wednesday, August 21, at the State House, after which they would be allocated portfolios by the president.

The embattled head of civil service of the federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, made a surprise appearance at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, The Nation reports.

9jaStarMedia gathers that Oyo-Ita arrived the forecourt of the State House in her official SUV around 9.45am and walked straight to the office of the chief of staff, Abba Kyari.

Oyo-Ita was absent at the two-day presidential retreat for ministers designate, federal permanent secretaries and top government functionaries held at the old Banquet Hall on Monday, August 19 and Tuesday, August 20.

Ministers-designate have arrived the Council chamber. Two buses conveyed them from Transcorp hotel, Abuja to the Villa around 10.25am.

The national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, andChief Bisi Akande have also arrived the Council Chamber where the ministers-designate will be sworn-in. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has also arrived. He walked into the Council Chamber around 10.30am. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has also arrived for the inauguration and swearing of ministers -designate. He got to the Council Chamber around 10.58am with his aides. The SGF, Boss Mustapha tells the ministers-designate that they would be required to start work immediately on the budget so it can be transmitted to the national assembly immediately they resume sitting. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The president is now giving his address: "It may be difficult to implement many of the projects cut by NASS" and 7 other things Buhari said at the signing of 2018 budget "I believe you are ready to get to work.

Our work is to improve security, grow a diversified economy and fight corruption," Buhari tells the ministers.
