The truth is FIFA and UEFA are tired of Messi and Ronaldo monopoly. As it is, even if it favor one of them, they will change vote.

since 2014 this awards voting are most times trough emotional voting

just watch out since van dilk won this one people won't want to stress there self thinking who was really the best last season, since he won uefa best so let just vote along same line

VVD will win everything...

UEFA has already hyped him to be better than Ronaldo+Mane+Salah+Allison combined!!!

Ronaldo achieved more than him last year and still wasn't given the award..he won champions league, champions league top scorer, scored 15 goals compared to messi's 12,he scored goal of the year too..the Liverpool man is winning this too for sure

U 'nairaland pundits' need to understand that giving award now is beyond just scoring goals. VVD has this one too. When last did u guys see a statistic about a defender not been dribbled even for once throughout a whole season? He even scored goals. tongue
He scored just 4 goals.. The real overhype is that dribbling avoidance stat!!! They brought it up after the UCL... In order to hype him very well. Imagine if it was mentioned right from the group stage, many players will taunt him and destroy it long time ago... The truth is nobody knows how reliable the stat is because you can't just go over all games and look for where he was dribbled...
Goal cleansheets define a defender not dribbling avoidance stat..

They are just using that to give him all awards..

He will win all award this year... I don't think that will help him as a professional tho...

Being overhyped never help! !!

VVD was also the best in his league and also the best defender in the UCL and he eliminated messi to make it to the final of the UCL....he also made it to the Uefa Nations league final while messi was flopped at copa america

Wrong. FIFA's The best is by September, while Ballon d'or is by December. The dates were changed about 2 years ago.

ballon dor is the most prestigious and the oldest...infact FIFA and ballon dor were merged together until separated in 2016 or so
