When the past deputy governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro tendered his resignation letter, many thought he was at least modest enough considering the on-going battle between him and Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, the tables turned around when Tinubu refused to acknowledge Pedro’s letter. His justification being that a letter of such nature is usually preceded by notice of resignation.

Though soundless whispers have been going around that Tinubu probably wants to drench Pedro’s “white” robes in red oil, the impeachment process was concluded without Pedro’s rebuttal of allegations made against him.

An amusing side of the tale is the way Pedro’s lawyers tendered the letter. The erudite men from Gani Fawehinmi’s chambers apparently thought that by storming the government house in an intimidating number of five, no sane person would deny them audience.

Unfortunately for them they met a lady receptionist in her fifties who for fear of losing her job refused to accept the letter. Poor woman, she acted on orders from above yet defended the Governor sturdily by claiming that the governor has the right to either accept or reject any letter addressed to him.

One question which remains unanswered is whether Tinubu is at discretion to reject a letter of resignation especially in such a crude manner? The letter was later dropped somewhere around the premises by the lawyers on the premise that by law, it has been received. If this is indeed lawful, why then did the Lagos State government deny reception of the letter despite claims that the letter was forwarded wrongly.

It is also true that Pedro refused to deny allegations made against him which raises a lot of eyebrows. Why didn’t he defend himself? Has he left all things in the hands of God like many do when all hope seems lost?

If the Lagos State Government didn’t want the letter, why did a mad man find the letter interesting? Eyewitnesses reported that a mad man later came around to take the letter, in the pretext of insanity. What further investigations have revealed is that the same “mad” man works for the state government. One can only laugh at the comic relief this drama unfolds with.

Why would a governor reject a letter and then secretly steal the letter? Only to go ahead and impeach his Deputy on grounds of insubordination! Pedro is guilty of insubordination because he made statements indicting Governor Tinubu of attempting to harm him and his family. I feel strongly that the battle goes beyond these lame excuses coming up.

Both men have hidden secrets which will be made known to Nigerians soon enough. Cans of worms will be opened as with what happened between our beloved President and his Vice. Therefore, roll out the drums, the dance of madness is about to start. wink grin

I have never ever seen Tinubu as a true Democrat, indeed the rest of his fellow party members. It is my belief that the only true democrats have been relegated to the background in Nigeria.I lost my respect for him when he single handedly imposed Fashola on his party leading to the exit of 11 of the gubernatorial aspirants from the action congress(Democracy forever).
By law,a letter has been delivered as long as it has been dispatched from any destination,if this were not so,then there wont be any case in court as many Nigerians would deny knowledge of any suit.He has however succeded in impeaching his 2 deputy governors during his 8 year term(remember bucknor akerele).Rather than allow the man resign peacefully he vented and included his sentiments by refusing to acknowledge his letter of resignation.
I would rather advise Nigerians to ignore the man in future because no man can be greater than the people who made him.A man with whom he had cuccessfully worked with for 4 years and a few monnths suddenly became enemy number 1 in his eyes because the man according to Tinubu made statements that were injurious to the goodwill of the people of Lagos. If Nigeria must move forward we must ignore the existence of such "wolves in sheep's clothings" cool
