Let's deal with 4G first.
5G will only help Yahoo yahoo, because our service providers can't assure us of it's effectiveness and good to ordinary citizen.

BTW, what do I know...

Why would Nigeria be ready for 5G when most the 4G these thieves masquerading as telecommunication Netowork providers is fake and nothing more than an advanced 3.75G

As Inunderstand it..... 5G is a game changer.... the same way the iPhone was not just another phone with added bells and whistles. 2G..3G...4G... pretty much speed up a notch... 5G is different... need new infrastructure. The leader in that infrastructure is Huawei... contracted by the UK... condemned by the US. Who is setting up 5G in Nigeria? Let's not get carried away.

We don't even have the reliable backbone to backhaul such capacity hungry technology right now in Naija. If only we could have original 4G tech deliver in full better for us...5G can wait for all I care

Here is what you need to know. all network connection in Nigeria are not accurate just like those internationally.

In Nigeria

2G is GPRS

Edge is 2G

3G is Edge

H+ is 3G

4g is H+

LTE is 4g

then expect when 5G is been launched you are simply getting LTE speed and not 5G

We still use 4G over here lol.. But testing in Africa is like using you guys as Lab experiments because 5g waves has been known to cause health issues such as cancer.. Well enjoy

that's another limiting factor of 5g.. You can't upgrade your network mast by just adding 4g equipments you'll need to setup a new mast for that or a relay.. Both of which are still expensive options

Sir, so in your mind, you feel Nigeria half as developed as South Africa?

No be by faith, motivation or gra gra. We don't have the facilities on ground to power a 5G network. simple

Not nonsense nor negative mindset. We don't need it for public networks for now, 3 to 4G is still OK, it is too exploitative and expensive. It is just like most celebrities carrying iPhone ☓ without knowing how to operate 10% of it's functions

There are many questions yet to be answered as far as telecom infrastructure upgrade and usage in nigeria is concerned.
How many Nigerians carry around 4G enabled phones in order to maximize the 4G potentials not to talk of 5G?
What is the rate of 4G nation wide roll-out as at 2019?
What is the rate of spectrum refarm like in nigeria for 3G and 4G compared to other african countries? While many countries have upgraded their 800/900/1800 MHZ bands, we have rarely upgraded these bands for LTE optimization.
Will the ubiquitous nature of the 5G infrastructure go down well with our local regulators?

Once more the bandwagon syndrome has set in as usual and our administrators have started their journey to fantasy land instead of concentrating on getting the best out of what we have at the moment. The reason why the world set out to upgrade to 5G is because there is a need for it. Is there an immediate need for 5G in Nigeria?

Let us have a report on 4G usage before we start the 5G "long throat" journey.
