Professional boxing began with WBA as its governing body. Mid'60s saw a proliferation of governing bodies like the WBC,IBF,WBO. When reigning Champion Larry Holmes agreed to fight under the aegis of IBF,WBA and WBC, WBA lost monopoly of World boxing title fights.Football may soon see new unions challenging the "Old Boys Club" FIFA,who is fast dribbling itself into irrelevance with overbearing sway over Sovereign states

There is angst everywhere in the 3rd World where government funds sports mostly football almost 100 percent. Therefore FIFA's non-interference is wrong prescription destined to obfuscate the game. In any case its a matter of 50 nations becoming signatories to a new Football Union and taking their best players to the Union's tournaments. That will be the end of FIFA ban threats. And that we all know how corrupt FIFA is,it should stop playing the ostrich. FIFA must change or face the consequence of resisting change.
