The President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government on Wednesday said that no Nigerian was killed in the latest xenophobic attacks in South Africa, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported that properties worth millions of naira, belonging to Nigerians in South Africa, were set ablaze with many others looted by South Africans.

President of the Nigeria Union in South Africa, Comrade Adetola Olubajo, said the attacks began on Sunday morning in Jeppestown area of Johannesburg.

Mr Olubajo said in a statement that the mob “looted several shops owned by foreign nationals”, adding, ”but the police later dispersed the angry mob and made some arrest.”

But reacting, Lauretta Onochie, Buhari’s Special Assistant on Social Media, said the videos being circulated on social media were not recent, insisting that no Nigerian was lost to the attack.

“No Nigerian life has been lost in South Africa in the last few days. The videos being paraded on the social media are old videos that are unrelated to Nigerians in South Africa”, she tweeted.

What a WASTE we have in this administration. They came in through lies and one would have expected them to change and proper solutions to the myriads of problems that was on us...but no; they still keep on lying and plays politics with our life.

To show you how daft they are...they went on to re-instate this palmy woman even when most Nigerians were happy that she will not be reappointed.

I don't see any difference in what the South Africans are doing to black foreigners to what this administration is doing to all Nigerians. This Bubu administration is also a XENOPHOBIC administration

So far this current xenophobic attack, 5 people lost their life 2 south Africa, 2 charred body that was newly found (without head tho) and one Mozambique. But Nigerian shops and other foreign nationals shop was badly vandalized and looted dry

The presidency is so insensitive, does Lauretta lives in SA.

May God bless Nigerians, for once we spoke in one voice to condemn the evil act of South Africans against Nigerians in South Africa. We are a united people who got divided along ethnic, political and religious line.

Nigeria will be great again
